Do Writers Sacrifice Vanity?

Today's thoughtIs this a topic of concern for any of you out there?  Well, for me it is raising questions.  I found it interesting when I came across this article from booksbywomen.org.  The topic is…How to avoid writer’s Arse.  This has been something I wondered about as the past year’s four pounds found me; without a change of diet or exercise.

It got me thinking about the amount of time I spend sitting as a writer, something I was never used to doing much of before in a typical day.

What do you do to break from sitting?  I find myself more and more standing for anything else when I am not writing.  Heck, sometimes when I write, I try to stand a bit.  I now stand for breakfast and lunch and the stolen hour I may get for TV  late at night as I hula hoop that time away.

  1. Luckily, although I have lamented the fact for years, I was born with no “arse.” Now, my belly? Well, that’s a whole different issue!

By the way, I have to apoligize for being remiss in reading your posts. I just discovered that I had failed to subscribe to your site and had not checked the “Notify via E-mail” button. Problem has been rectified and I look forward to reading more of your posts!

  3. This definitely happens. I think it’s a morph of the Brain V. Brawn thing… Maybe it’s as we become more confident in our writing and creativity that we begin to worry less about taking care of looking nice for other people… I know that I definitely go out in public looking like a mess way more than I did just a few years ago!

  4. Yes, it is does happen. To prevent this, part of my day is always physical in nature. I try to remember that my body needs the attention as much as my creative muse does. Not easy, but I do work on this daily, lol! 🙂 xx

      1. Oh my friend, I’ve had so many obstacles in these past few days, in fact I’m going to post about them because I need to get them off my chest! And yes, I do not give up easily! 🙂

  5. I noticed that post too! And you know what I did? I ordered a drop down table I’m going to attach to the wall and get a treadmill and start walking while I’m on the computer. Otherwise, my heart is not getting any stimulation. So it’s about health, not beauty. Well . . . both.

    1. No kidding! I saw one of those on TV, a built in treadmill with a table top, only studies weren’t received well because a lot of women said the table wasn’t at a comfortable height!
