I’m a firm believer in the laws of attraction. The phrase, ‘We Get What We Focus On’ holds a lot of merit. If we dwell on negative things and things we wish we were, or wish we had, this type of thinking isn’t in good vibration with positivity. We are cautioned to focus on good things, and instead of wishing for things, to condition our minds to focus on things as though we already have them. These are the teachings of the Laws of Attraction. The objective is to be in a good state of source energy with the universe.
Have any of you ever noticed that if you woke up one day and everything started going wrong, the whole day progressed in the same manner? You may have found yourself saying, “What a crappy day,” or, “What else can go wrong?” and without realizing it, you’ve invited more crap and more things to go wrong. This is all part of the vibration we are giving off when faced with challenging moments we let overtake our positive thinking. This is all related to source energy.
In the words of the great, late Wayne Dyer:
“When you’re matched up to that energy of peace and love, you then regain the power of your Source – that being the power to manifest your desires, to summon well-being, to attract abundance where scarcity previously resided, and to access Divine guidance in the form of the right people and the precisely correct circumstances.” —Wayne Dyer
“The key to bringing something into your experience that you desire is to achieve vibrational harmony with what you desire. And the easiest way for you to achieve vibrational harmony with it is to imagine having it, pretend that it is already in your experience, flow your thoughts toward the enjoyment of the experience, and as you practice those thoughts and begin to consistently offer that vibration, you will then be in the place of allowing that into your experience.
Now, by paying attention to the way you feel, you can easily know if you are giving your attention to your desire or if you are giving it to the absence of your desire. When your thoughts are a vibrational match to your desire, you feel good – your emotional range would be from contentment to expectation to eagerness to joy. But if you are giving your attention to the lack, or absence, of your desire – your emotions would range from feelings of pessimism to worry to discouragement to anger to insecurity to depression.
And so, as you become consciously aware of your emotions, you will always know how you are doing with the allowing part of your Creative Process, and you will never again misunderstand why things are turning out the way they are. Your emotions provide a wonderful guidance system for you, and if you will pay attention to them, you will be able to guide yourself to anything that you desire. You Get What You Think About,” — Abraham Hicks
If you find yourself interested in learning more about how to manifest your desires, check out some of the books by Esther and Jerry Hicks. – The Law of Attraction and Ask and It Is Given are two of my favourites.

If that’s the case Debby, writers should attract millions of readers. I’m still waiting. How about you?”

Are your intentions held only in positive belief that you’re attracting your thoughts, or that you wish you were? We have to see the things we want as we already have them. You need to believe Jack. 🙂 If we hold the intent and bring it into our attentions several times a day, things happen. OKay, Rome wasn’t built in a day, but I’ve read many books on this and it makes a lot of sense to me. If we’re not open to receive, we won’t.

I’ve been ‘open to receive it’ as you say for years. The problem is with potential readers, not willing to take a chance on an author they have never heard of…

Ok, well I’m no guru Jack, but I do know that having negative thoughts in our heads and thinking about things in a negative way doesn’t attract those positive energies. It’s about creating a positive mindset. I don’t think I have a million readers, lol, but I’m not worried about it. I write because I love to, I engage in all my activities in a positive light, and I can see through passing time that I’m building up my readership and that’s positive growth. One day at a time. Have faith my friend. 🙂

My intention is to write a great memoir but along with the process comes neck pain. So, I wear an elastic shoulder device to keep my posture less slumped over the computer.
What’s my point? I try to stay connected to positive mental energy in spite of temporary physical pain. Yes, I DO believe in the laws of attraction. Great post, Debby!

Thanks Marian! So you’re staying one step ahead by finding what helps you to keep on the positive road. And, I hear you about the posture awareness while spending long hours at the computer. Now, do share, what kind of device is this? 🙂 I just spent 3 hours today at my Osteopath unkinking my neck and spine.

Debby this is so true — thanks for this reminder. I have found repeatedly in my life that focus on the negative only brings me more bad crap! Yet I find it so hard to imagine/visualize the good things I need. But I keep working on it. One of my favorite reminders is from Bob Proctor “If you can hold it in your head, you can hold it in your hand!” Mega hugs.

Hi Teag. Thanks for sharing that about Bob. I had forgotten about him. The truth is, negative doubts are so easy to sneak into our thoughts and buggers to get out of our heads. That’s why it’s so much easier to fail than to succeed if we submit to those crappy thoughts. The laws of attraction teaches us how to learn to change our thought patterns. Undoubtedly if we don’t let the light in, nothing will grow. 🙂 x

The first principal I worked under as a high school teacher was really big on telling the staff to get up and smile every day and tell ourselves it was going to be a good day. For the first couple of staff meetings, I would inwardly roll my eyes. Then the reality of how stressful a first year of teaching could be set it, and I started getting up and telling myself it was going to be a good day. It really did help and it’s a habit I continue to cultivate.

Nobody says it will be easy Jeri. It’s far easier for the mind to collect nagging doubts, which in turn vibrates negativity. Like you said, it’s a conditioning of the mind that we have to practice every day. But like I wrote here, if you let the beginning of a crappy day rule your thoughts, we all know the rest of the day will continue that way. It’s all about training the mind. Thanks for visiting and commenting. 🙂

Brilliant reminders here Deb and you have chosen some wonderful quotes to enlighten your thoughts..
We do indeed attract that which we think.. And sometimes we are not even aware of our inner most dialogue which can play a vital part in knocking us back down..
Keeping our thoughts in the positive and living life in abundance as if we already have achieved all our desires is the key..
I have just finished Waynes book Wishes Fulfilled for the second time in reading and its amazing how often we fail to curb those doubts and frustrations, which all add up to our negative experiences.
Love and Blessings..
and another Quote
“Health, Wealth, and Beauty are not created; they are manifested by the arrangement of your mind- that is by the concept of yourself, and the concept of yourself is all that you accept and consent to as true” NEVILLE,,

Thanks so much so for adding that truthful quote. Now, how did I know this post would resonate well with you? LOL. It’s all true though Sue. And no doubt you understand how it works. As easy as it would seem to always think positive, it’s also a challenge sometimes to chase those pesky little negative what if’s out of our heads. Practice makes perfect they say. xo 🙂

haha… oh I have those pesky little negatives.. the trick is learning how they weave their way into our thoughts, then recognising them for what they are and giving them the big Heave-ho.. 🙂 😉 Practice Practice Practice… none of us are Perfect or we wouldn’t be here LOL haha.. xxx Big Hugs Deb.. xx

I was just thinking about this very thing the other day! I love the concept in theory, applying it day by day is always the challenge! I think it’s why I love dream boards so much. They help me visualize more clearly abstract feelings and ideas. It’s like bringing belief a little a closer to reality. Thanks, Debby, for providing more food for thought!

Hi Dorothy. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I think we all have to develop a strategy to avoid letting the negative thoughts overtake our good intentions. I love the idea of a dream board! But it is true Dorothy, negativity only breeds more of the same. I’m glad we are on the same wavelength, no doubt it’s why we connected. 🙂

I understand the importance of positive thinking, but it’s easy for people to imagine that positive thinking will make everything in life go their way. Positive thinking is much more than that and has to go much deeper than ego. Sometimes we get smacked around and it’s not because of negative thinking. Sometimes there is a natural disaster or a war or an illness, and we get caught in the web of disaster. And within that context of suffering or having life go our way, it’s still our job to hold a positive attitude and open heart.
I use the tonglen or “we are all in the same soup” exercise to help with this. I struggle with hearing loss, but I remember there are millions of others on this planet who suffer from hearing loss. I wish for them and myself the ability to deal with our struggle with love.

Great explanation here Elaine. It’s true that so many who don’t fully understand how this works can feel deceived. It brings to mind the age old question, ‘Why do bad things happen to good people?’. It’s not about thinking life will be all rosie all the time. It’s about keeping our thinking on a positive path, which in turn aids in shifting our thinking patterns and learning gratitude. It’s a complex process, especially since many find it difficult pushing negativity aside in dark moments. 😉
LikeLike
Deb, I wasn’t clear. I never, ever push negativity aside. I let dark thoughts in and look at them. I accept them as part of my experience and ego and learn from them without acting from them (or rarely, since that little shadow can be a trickster). I want to know every dark corner of my psyche, own it, learn from it, and let it go. This is the Jungian in me speaking since I’ve been a student of Carl Jung and worked with the importance of knowing and learning from the Shadow since 1970. I think it’s dangerous to push negativity aside and pretend it isn’t there. Better to shine a light on it.

Thanks for adding this Elaine. And I agree with you. It’s important to analyze our thoughts, good and bad, to root out the reasoning for them. But like you added, the important part after is the learning to let it go. 🙂

On a practical level, this is part of the ‘positive mental attitude’ we use in sports coaching – removing negative thoughts and attitudes, and fostering positive ones has been thoroughly proven to be behind the most successful athletes in the world.
I coach it every day, though it is admittedly harder to achieve it with some clients than others…

The hardest part for many is to be able to learn to push aside the negativity. It’s a natural reaction. Even I who is a firm believer in these laws fight my own demons. 🙂

Too true, but it IS a mindset that can be achieved using psychological techniques if people are willing to work at it. Like everything in life, it isn’t ever going to be easy all the time, but when is anything that is worth working for?

Great post, Debby! I believe that is true too! Have you read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne? That is essentially what she says. I feel empowered after reading it. I am on my second reading now. I tend to veer away from it every so often (being positive about things) then I have to put all my concentration on positive thinking again. It does work. May you receive all the blessings you need in life! Love & hugs!
