Hi people! I know, so unlike me to post twice in one day, but I just wanted to share something of interest I came across last night while reading a post from a fellow blogger, Damyanti’s blog.
She mentioned a new site called Blasty . This is a new site still in beta. It’s created for writers and artists to enroll their books and anything copyrighted to be flagged to your account if any suspicious ‘BUY’ links are found from pirates on Google. When suspicious links are found WE are then given the right to ‘blast‘ the link right off Google ourself! Imagine that, we don’t have to go through the ringers to submit our findings, begging them to take them off, we have the power to blast them ourselves!
Natch I joined! Once you’ve joined and submitted your own copyrighted content, it takes 12 days until you’re accepted because they have to verify you are holder of copyright and that takes time. BUT if you share and get 3 people to sign up, they will push the registration to 1 business day! They will send you an invitational link by email to share with others in case they want to join. And not only that, if you join now while it’s in beta stages, they waive the fee!
As a published author, it’s a no-brainer for me to have Google babysit the pirates, so I’m in. The site has a great FAQ section and little videos demonstrating how to use Blasty correctly and efficiently. You can even ‘unblast’ if you’ve blasted something in error.
Anyhoo, I suggest you check it out. And I’m leaving the link here with my invitational code to their site for you to visit, so if you sign up from my link, they’ll know you were invited there, and I’ll get to add the rest of my books in one day instead of 12.
You know me, always glad to pass on great info after doing the investigations. So if you decide to sign up who wouldn’t, please go in through this link https://www.blasty.co/invitation/bituzNcZ so I can get my books up by tomorrow. Then you will be emailed your own ‘invite’ link and you can ask the same of others.
Note: I already have a follow up post to this Read Here to see how many books of mine are being pirated.
Ok, question, since you are already familiar with this. Are they considering the fact that something is published as copyrighted or do we have to have proof from the a legal department of copyright in the country in which we live?
LikeLike
No. We don’t have to prove anything. They do a search to make sure our emails, website, and booklinks are all legit and pertain to the same author, to make sure, WE aren’t pirating, pretending to be the author. I’m sure it’s something that take a few minutes, but because we’re signing for free and they’re getting lots of publicity lately, they have to manually check all subscribers. 🙂

This sounds like a great site and much needed. Just after I made my amazon authors page live, I`ve been getting very strange friend requests on my FB page, been deleting them because there is something scam like about them. So when Wisp is published will definetely be joining this site. Thanks Debby

It’s a win, win Adele. And like I just commented to Nicholas, the site is free to join now while it’s in beta stages, after it will cost $19.99 a year to hire Google as our watchdog. Remember to join using my invite link in the post if you do. 🙂

I, too, would love to hear how this goes!
I tried reblogging, but couldn’t find the reblog button 😦

Thanks Nicholas. I’ll be doing a follow up post when I’m initiated. I think of it as a work of my head to sign up. Google is going to babysit my book links to make sure there is no suspicious activity, and that’s good enough for me. Plus it’s free now by joining in beta, then it will cost $19.99 a year to join.
My site is self-hosted. Therefore there is no such thing as a reblog button. To reblog articles with no ‘reblog’ button, you must use the ‘press this’ tool in your dashboard. You add it to your tool bar, and it allows you to clip information from anywhere on the web. I also wrote a few posts about this tool in the past year. If you enter ‘press this’ in my search for posts on my sidebar, those posts will come up for you to read and get more details. This tool is great, not only for reblogging, but for capturing anything off the web you may want to blog about. 🙂

Hi Debby,
I am home. I am still working on my Ebook and trying to get it off the ground. Now that I’m home, I’ll have time to devote to it. Thanks for letting me know about this site. I’ll bookmark this for when my book is done. I finished your Meno-What book. It really helped me avoid doctor’s bills now that I know what’s probably normal.

Hi Janice, welcome home! I’m sure you had an amazing time. And wow, glad you got some heads up from my book. But remember, it’s always good to check in with your doctor at least once a year with any concerns. 🙂 And PS I would love if you wrote a review on Amazon. Thanks. 🙂

Thanks a bunch Janice. As you know reviews are an author’s gold. Here is the link https://www.amazon.com/Meno-What-Memoir-Memorable-Moments-Menopause-ebook/dp/B00KWANPZK All you have to do is scroll past the blurb and under ‘about the author’ you will see the little box ‘write a review’, just click on it and write away, lol. Thanks again. 🙂

Glad to be of help Diana. Although it’s infuriating to find our books floating around free, it’s good to know that Google can blast them off the world wide web. 🙂

I signed up, Debby. Thanks so much for the info! I was only able to sign up one book. Does it let me do more or is that after I’m approved? I found the site a little bit confusing, but I find all technology confusing! :-D. I’m really curious to see the results.

So glad to hear Diana. Yes, when you sign up it only allows you one book until you’re accepted, then you can add all your books and your blog if you like. If you share their invitational link as I did and you get 3 people to sign up through it, you will be accepted in 24 hours as opposed to 12 days. Gratefully I had quite a few sign up and I was in within a day. But oh my, how many pirate sites I had to blast!
It isn’t actually confusing when they grant you access. It’s very straight forward with a whole sidebar of FAQS about the site, even some helpful little 45 second videos.
Do let me know what you find when you’re in! 🙂

Hi Debby! If the site is still in the beta stage how can we be sure that it’s safe for us to submit all of our information?
LikeLike
Hi Vashti. It is affiliated with Google. Many pros are using it. I’ve been with them over a year and caught over 300 of my books being pirated! It saves us from having to scour the web to find pirated books and having to send letters to take down. Blasty gets Google to remove the pirated sites completely! That’s something we don’t have the power to do ourselves. 🙂
