Beautiful Arizona Sunsets, Festivals, Fairies, Psychics and Orbs

Good evening Arizona

I thought I’d share some various snapshots of beautiful sunsets I gathered.

What have I been up to in Arizona?

Arizona

Well, for one thing, the temperatures have climbed to unseasonably hot. They were unseasonably cool up to one day before we arrived here. Where the temps should have been hovering around the mid  60s to early 70s from late February into March and tapering off around mid 70s for most of March, February had quite a cold spell and the first few nights here we needed a jacket. That was until the first weekend in March hit and we’re currently having temps close to 95 degrees. These desert temps can sometimes hamper plans to go to certain places where we’d have to be walking around all day outside, because, well, it’s a desert!

One Saturday, my cousin and I went downtown to the Scottsdale Art Festival. My husband bailed because it was too hot to walk around, and truth be told, we only lasted there about two hours because of the heat, so we decided to go shopping afterward instead of hanging around outside, lol. But I did manage to snap a few interesting pictures of art made out of old golf clubs, and the price tags weren’t cheap!

On the following Sunday we were supposed to go to another western festival up in Cavecreek, about half hour north of us, but once again it was too hot to join the crowds and watch events outside. We are attempting to reschedule for another time. When we did go up to Sedona, the weather was perfect because the temps are 20 degrees cooler up in the mountains.

So I’ve been catching rays by the pool most days, or to re-phrase, catching rays in the pool because one can only lay on a chair for a short time before having to dive in the water to escape the sizzle. Not that I’m complaining! I love the heat, I love the relaxation. I wake up early and work on blogs, write book reviews which I’ll begin posting again after my return, check social media and do a few blog post visits. At the pool I read and I’m currently beta reading a new book for an author friend. At night we go out for dinner with friends and are usually back by 8pm where I turn on the TV and read some blogs, yes, for a few hours, before passing out from the day’s heat exhaustion. So I suppose I am working here, just not working on my newest book, which will resume when I return home.

A cute story- Starbucks and Psychics

One afternoon, I was on my way to meet my cousin downtown to walk around Oldtown Scottsdale for a few hours before having dinner. As I often do on my way out, I stopped for a Starbucks latte for the trek. After meeting up with my cousin and walking around for awhile and taking some silly photos, we were approaching the  psychic’s storefront where I remembered meeting her last year and began telling my cousin a story about her and how we should consider going for a reading  In that exact moment during my conversation as we continued to walk, I brushed by a man sitting on a wooden bench, on the narrow walkway, possibly resting under the shade from the desert heat, or waiting for someone when he looked up at me with his Crocodile Dundee looking face and said, “Hi Debby, you’re looking great, do you remember me?”

I stopped in my tracks to acknowledge the man, smiled and replied, “I’m pretty darned good with faces even if I can’t remember names. How do you know me?” He was a friendly soul who continued to compliment me with his charming South Carolina accent as he informed me that’s where he is from, yet I couldn’t place him.

My cousin El and I turned to one another with a puzzled look on our faces. How could this man, Bob, know me? Was it a coincidence he said hello to me in the exact moment we were speaking about the psychic? Was I in the twilight zone?

After some small chitchat exchange between us, Bob’s wife walked out of the store he was waiting in front of. He introduced his wife Jane to us, and me and El to his wife. Bob had a great sense of humor as we had enjoyed his humor through the questioning process of asking him how he knew me, when he finally coughed up the goods. “Why I just wanted to say hi to you ‘Debby’. After all, YOUR NAME is on the Starbucks cup! I had you going for awhile, didn’t I?” Bob chuckled away with his Carolina drawl while he had us in stitches and me feeling as though I could have hit my head in a huge ‘duh’ moment for falling prey to his joke. We all chatted for a few more minutes about how we’re all enjoying our stay in Arizona, then we parted ways.

Fairies and Orbs

One other notable photo my friend Lois took of me while out for dinner was of great interest to both of us. I’d asked Lois to take a picture of me in the desert landscape nearby the restaurant up on the hill. She first took one with my phone and there seemed to be a foggy blur that appeared in front of me in the photo which was odd because the evening was quite clear. So Lois said she’d take another photo with her phone. As I stood there waiting, I kept asking her what’s taking so long, she told me there was a green dot that kept appearing in the photo, so she snapped it a few times, all had the same dot. She thought it may have been her camera acting up so she snapped a few random photos with NO green dots. After looking at the photo she took of me, I was excited to see that it was in fact an orb. No surprise there are fairies in the desert. Notice the circle shadow around the orb.

This is my last week in Arizona. As always, I’ll be very sad to leave, but will have next year to look forward to once again.

Do you believe in fairies and Orbs? Please feel free to share what you make of this magical photo.

    1. Lol Patricia, that orb was hanging around my feet for several shots my friend took while we tried to figure out if there was something wrong with the camera. It’s so beautiful here, the thought of going home later this week is disheartening. But all good things come to and end right? 🙂 ❤

  1. Great photos. Loved the starbucks/psychic story. Should have been a foreshadowing clue, as in a mystery novel, when you had mentioned the stop for a latte. I guess I need more caffeine myself, LOL. Just getting a little ways into that first cup of the AM.

Maybe the Canadian spring will be kindly temperate when you return. 🙂

    1. Lol, thanks John. Yes, I was intending to set up the foreshadowing clue with Starbucks. I’m on the last leg of my trip here, and have heard it’s a pretty darned cold weekend back home. Brrr, I want to stay here. 🙂

  2. You got a real bang for your buck at Starbucks. Ha! Hang on to your health as you head back to a cool Canadian spring. Extra Vitamin C? An anti-allergen pill on the plane? You look so relaxed now. Safe travels home!

    1. Thanks for the good reminders Marian. I’m hogging in the vitamin C these last few beautiful days.:)
P.s. did you get my comments on your new blog? I left you a few messages through the weeks? I don’t see my comments there and haven’t received a reply from you since you changed blogs. I thought it was unusual for you?

  4. I love the Starbucks story, Debby! I wish we could have timed our trip better. We will be in Sedona in a couple of weeks. Can’t wait. I enjoyed your schedule. Isn’t it amazing how you don’t stop working even when you are vacationing, and it is fun. 🙂 Hope you have good weather when you get back home. 🙂

      1. Sounds good. Stop by CA on your way home! hehehe Like the plane would make a stop in Woodlake. But seriously, you could fly to CA before you fly home! Or maybe we can schedule at the same time in AZ.

  5. Beautiful photos, I love fairs but the weather needs to be inspiring. And yes, I love the Starbucks story (although I don’t drink coffee and don’t go there often, so I missed the clue…). I’m not sure what I think about orbs but I can’t remember seeing a green one before… Keep enjoying yourself.

    1. Thanks for chiming in Olga. Many people aren’t familiar with orbs, and I’ve only seen a few in photos before, but never one with me in it. According to Colleen Chesenbro, the fairy whisperer, it’s a blessing and I’ll take it. 🙂

  6. Debby, a great post and I loved hearing about your trip. ? It sounds like a world away…desert, heat, golf club statues and orbs! What a great story about Bob who knew you but didn’t – great sense of humour. Just wonderful photographs and you look terrific and so relaxed. Sorry about your holiday coming to an end…but what a location to work!?

  8. Do I believe in fairies? Ha! You’re asking the wrong guy that question. After the strange event of one appearing in the video I posted last week on my blog, and the a post I wrote 18 months ago where one appeared on Brighton beach, I think you can guess my answer, Debby. ✰

Great photos and so pleased to hear you’re having a great time. (Did you see that guy in the back of your last photo?) Great photo of George and you as well. I hope he’s as rested as you are?

    Hugs to you both.

    1. Lol Hugh. I guess I was asking the right guy! Yay, it’s nice to know there are many believers of the fairies. Many people I know don’t even know what an orb is. I like to think they show up for those who are more intuned with them, although I was taken by surprise and made my friend take the shot like 5 times because we couldn’t get the green orb out of that photo, and that one only! Thanks for your feedback and confirmation too. And I had never noticed the ‘men’ in that photo behind! I enlarged it and can’t account for them because we were in the desert part of the restaurant outside with nobody else out there. Now that is even more interesting!!!! 😦 xo

      1. I only just noticed that you seem to be standing in a spotlight in that last photo as well, Debby. It’s almost as if you’re on stage. And check out that glint off your watch. Could well be one of the flowers, but who knows? Those fairies certainly had the spotlight on you that evening.

  10. Hi Debby, Thanks for sharing your Arizona sunsets, artworks and stories. It does sound warm over there. Must be like here! I enjoyed your Starbucks story. That is one reason for the recommendation that parents don’t emblazon their kids’ names on their shirts. It was a bit of a trend in the seventies I think. It made kids an easy target; anyone could speak to them as an old friend. I found your orb story interesting too. It reminded me of orb photos posted by your friends Hugh and Sherri a while ago. I see Hugh has already commented. I think there’s much in this world that we don’t understand.

    1. I’m with you on all counts Norah. Yes, Hugh and Sherri have spotted orbs and I feel honored to have been amidst one too. And you are so right with the names, funny every time I’m asked for my name in a coffee shop, I think about using an alias. Perhaps that’s what parents can tell their kids when they’re doing the same. Lessons always to be learned. 🙂

I remember once when I had gone to a strange town and went our to buy some lunch from an intense seminar i had attended with a colleague during my Manager Days in Textiles..
Coming out of a fish and Chip shop this Youth said Hi Sue, Hope your having a good day.. I looked puzzled and asked how he knew my name as I didn’t know him.. He pointed to my lapel and I saw the sticker with my name still on it.. LOL… haha… Yes I felt that Duh moment too hehe..

Loved the orb too.. And yes totally get it and believe in them.. My sister, takes amazing orb photo’s she simple seems to ask for them and they appear for her.. 🙂 and I got her as part of her present for birthday a book on orbs.. 🙂 Small world..

    1. Oh Sue, thanks for sharing your stories here. I’m glad I’m not the only one who got caught in that ‘duh’ moment, lol. And I have no doubts you’re well acquainted with the world of orbs. Interesting you say your sister simply asks for them to appear for her and they do. I have asked many times and they hadn’t appeared. This is my first orb photo and I’m in it! I was elated! Thanks so much for reading and sharing here Sue, always a treat. 🙂 🙂 ❤ xo

      1. 🙂 I love it, and so happy you got your first Orb with you in the photo.. 🙂 .. Yes she seems to just have the knack, or is energetically linked… She can point her camera at her plain curtains and ask for one.. and one will appear where there wasn’t one before.. Needless to say there are lots of photos she takes which they appear.. 🙂
I took a couple of photos a few years ago. One bright one and two smaller ones on my Daughter-in-law. the other at the side of my Son’s head..
        http://wp.me/p16xW7-16Z
The interesting thing is my Daughter-in-law had a problem with her lung on the side of the orbs, And had a serious opp this Jan’ to remove a cyst which had grown. Thankfully not cancerous.. But the specialists had said she had been born with it.. And it had grown.. She had always thought she was asthmatic and was ill when the photo was taken after a chest infection ( which we now know was causing all the probs .. Which makes one wonder how our angels are giving healing etc.. 🙂 xx

  13. Sunset photos are the best. I really love the desert. Such a pallette is even reflected in my house, and I collect Mexican folk art too. My love on the other hand, is not much of a desert lover. I need to get him to see the beauty in its precarious balance.

  14. Wow, Debbie. I’ve never heard about green dots, but I did have a college friend whose slightly older boyfriend had tons of “haunted” photos like your orb one, sort of.

Until you looked closely the foggy images seemed more like they were simply after-image doubles of him for some reason — until you noted that every single one of them was facing a different direction from the image they were supposedly replicating — i.e., if he was facing forward they were in profile, or if he were in profile they were straight on or flipped the other way, etc. – looking with a magnifying glass, the hair was longer too [play Twilight Zone theme here].

Beautiful photos, but I would have passed out from the heat, no doubt. Glad you survived and had a super time. Thanks for sharing.

      1. A colleague I met at a conference, supposedly photographing auras of participants, reports seeing those kinds of things without the aid of her camera – along with orbs. I don’t know her well enough to vouch for her veracity, but I still find it interesting that her camera can photograph what she says she sees – different placement for each person in line, several in succession, without fiddling with the camera (that I could see, anyway).

NOW! This is an order: don’t think about leaving OR what will happen when you return. Enjoy every last nanosecond of your vacation!

  16. Great photos. I last went to AZ in late March and it turned blistering hot. Vic was very sick (it was one of his last trips), so all he could do was hide inside all day. Fortunately we were in a beautiful little house west of Tuscon, so we could enjoy the night sky together. When AZ is hot, I’m out of there. Glad you found ways to have fun.

    1. Thanks for sharing your visit to AZ Elaine. As it turns out this March turned extremely hot too, which I had no problem with. I love this kind of heat, but I can appreciate how it may get to one who isn’t feeling well. And I’ve never seen so many beautiful sunsets anywhere like here. 🙂

Of course, you know I’m fascinated about your orb…and yes, I do believe if fairies, always have, thanks to my dad and our walks in the woods 🙂 Great story about the man knowing your name…sounds like he was chatting you up if you ask me lol! Love that kind of heat, so much better than humidity. But you were still one busy lady while away with ‘work’. Glad you got to relax some of the time, and hopefully you got lots of chair positioning time in too, even if you couldn’t sit down for to long! Glad you had such a great time, but welcome back my dear friend 🙂 ❤ xoxo

      1. Haha…yes, your hubby is as well trained as mine by the sounds of it Deb 😀 The only orb I ever caught on film was that one in the graveyard which I posted a while back. It wasn’t in any of the other photos I took that day, all in the same area, and at first I thought it was a rain drop on the camera lens, but why only that photo? Uncanny was the word for it. I love that your orb is green. Magical for sure. Thanks Deb, lovely to be here again too…and you know, like you, I won’t give up! Huge hugs right back at ya… ❤ xoxoxo

My friend took my photo about 6 times because she said there was a green ‘thingy’ kept getting in the picture, thought it was the camera light. When she snapped a few random ones to check, nothing was there. So yes, I have to believe in the magic of orbs. 🙂 ❤ xoxo

  19. It looks like you had such an amazing time in Arizona. I’ve never been there but would love to visit it some day (I hear they have beautiful turquoise stones there which I would love to get my hands on) and also the rest of the States. Like you, I like heat but sometimes, too much heat really wear you down. Don’t blame you for going shopping and visiting the mountains instead 🙂

I agree with what Judith said earlier in the comments – that you are one elegant lady. How lucky that an orb appeared in the photo your friend took. I live in a big bustling city but I do like to believe in the power of nature, and do believes things exist out there like fairies. The stars and star signs are something I am getting more keen on too…and the more attention you pay to patterns around you, the more you realise the special things and people around you. I hope that orb is a good sign for you 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Mabel, for visiting and leaving your lovely comments. Yes, Arizona is full of beautiful turquoise stones! Once upon a time, turquoise was abundant in many of the mines, now quite a few have closed and/or run dry, hence, the price of turquoise has become quite dear. It sounds like you’d truly appreciate the beauty of Arizona, I do hope you get there one day. Praise for the magic of fairies. It’s nice to connect with another believer. 🙂

      1. I see that your friend there has what looks like a beautiful blue turquoise necklace there… 😀 I’ve heard some of the mines in Arizona have shut down, and turquoise is becoming so valuable and hard to find. But I’m determined to get a good stone as I feel it calling out to me.

Hope you get to go back and visit soon. Maybe you could then visit more fairs then…and maybe make friends with some fairies 🙂

      2. Thanks again Mabel. My friend’s necklace wasn’t turquoise, that would have been some amount of turqoise! I’ll be going back next winter. And yes, as I mentioned, some mines have closed down, making turquoise more dear, but there are turquoise mines still there and other states, even in China I understand. 🙂
