Today I want to talk about a most helpful writing app I use called Prowritingaid . This is a wonderful writing/editing app which you purchase a licence for to use and then you download it into your Word program and/or your WordPress blog dashboard so the editing tools will display on your editing toolbars. The licence is also not limited to one computer which is a big bonus.
Having Prowritingaid in your arsenal of editing tools is immensely helpful for a multitude of writing sins. It’s more than a spell-checker offering suggestions for grammar checks, sticky sentences, fragmented sentences, repeated words, thesaurus suggestions and so much more.
Once you’ve downloaded the product you will receive explicit instructions on how to install it.
You can view just some of the apps capabilities to aid in your writing HERE
This is what your editing toolbox will look like when you download the Prowritingaid app to your blog’s dashboard. You will notice all the tools available to edit your posts, many more than the standard tools in our dashboards.
I received an email from Prowritingaid recently, offering anyone who signs up for a licence for this app to receive 20% off if you purchase it through the month of May. If you sign up directly through this link https://prowritingaid.com?mafid=*|USERID|* I too will earn brownie points toward my licence with extending the service to me for one free month for each person who signs up. Just use Code word FRIENDS
Are any of you using this App? If so, how beneficial do you find it to your writing?
If you’re considering purchasing this app or just want to have a look around the website to get a broader scope of its capabilities, please do so from the link they’ve sent me here which they’ve coded to track who purchases through my link so I can gain the credits. Thanks and happy writing!
Here is that link again: https://prowritingaid.com?mafid=*|USERID|*

This is the one I use too! I paid $30 for a one year license. It was worth every penny.

Thanks for sharing Lynette. That was a great deal! I think I ended paying similar per year for a 2 year licence. 🙂

I have AutoCrit, which I love, but it doesn’t load to Word or my blog. This sounds intriguing. Thanks, Deb.

Yes, that’s the beauty of Prowritingaid Jacqui, loads right into our writing software programs both for Mac and PC. 🙂

Sounds interesting, Debby. I’ve seen this one before. They have a “Try It” option on the site where you can insert or upload some writing to see how it works. I just tried it again. It is definitely helpful. 🙂

Yes Diana, the it does offer to try for free, but the options for editing are limited to what the paid version offers. 🙂

Looks great! Do you know if it works with WordPress hosted blogs?

Thanks Terri. Yes it does, but you may only be able to load the free version to a domain you don’t own. You could go to your plugins and search for it to load it in. If you purchase it, you will get way more capabilities and can download to your Word program. That way if you only get the free version on your blog, if you draft your blogs in Word first, you’d be able to use it. 🙂

Sounds great for Word, but WordPress.com blogs cannot load plug-ins, so I doubt that even the free version would work on my blog. I will check it out through your links, however, and have pinned to my Waay too much screen time board. Thanks always for helping me [pretend to] stay up to date – lol.

Lol, you’re so funny! And like I said, you may be right, I’m not sure if it could be added to WP.com, you cold always go in your dashboard >plugins and type in ‘prowritingaid’ in the search for plugins and see if it comes up. It works for self-hosted. But on the bright side, many people write their blogs in Word where you could use it and copy and paste the post over to WP. 🙂 xx

Like I said, I’ll be checking it out. Every once in a while the WP folks okay a plug-in for all, but most are verboten on their dot com platform (they’ll strip them out on save).
If enough writers request it, maybe they’ll help us out – even though they seem to get less writer friendly with every “improvement.”
