The Cycle – Flash NonFiction – Life Learn Repeat

Life Learn Repeat

Live Laugh Love

I’m not sure where this came from, just a pattern of thoughts in the wee hours of the night. I think what I was trying to convey is emotions we experience and lessons we learn in life we take with us into the next life. But lessons aren’t always learned. Perhaps we get them right after a try or two?

Ego bruised,

Spirit falls.

Heart breaks,

Soul hurts.

Compassion heals,

Faith renewed.

Lessons learned,

Search forgiveness.

Life teaches,

Creating growth.

Aging and wisdom,

Death and rebirth

Try again.

Love encouraged,

Lifts esteem.

Heart full,

Happy within.

Have compassion,

Spread kindness.

Teach goodness,

Open heart.

Speak positive,

Smiling words.

Aging fulfilled,

Death and rebirth.

Repeat.

  1. Lovely, Debby. In the wake of increasing violence and heartbreak, practicing kindness is more urgently needed. I especially like these lines: Have compassion, Spread kindness . . . which you constantly broadcast here. Here’s to teaching goodness with an open heart. ❤

    1. Thanks so much Marian. It came to me when I was reading something that made me think of the afterlife and life lessons. They say that those who go through life and don’t learn their life lessons must come back and do a repeat. ❤

  2. Debby, this is the circle of life for sure. WE all have much to learn on the path to enlightenment. Glad to be part of your world, Sis. ❤

  3. Beautiful, Deb. I think ~ at least I hope ~ at some point we finally do complete the lessons we’ve chosen to learn. I envision a future lifetime when all lessons are behind me and I incarnate simply to enjoy all the pleasures Mother Earth and a physical form have to offer 🙂 ♥

    1. So true Diana. Life is a cycle. I have no idea where it came from but I was compelled to write it down. I actually had longer sentences and wanted to see what I could do with cutting them down to the bare bones of the message. Thanks for the kudos. 🙂 ❤

  4. Debby, I’m so happy you shared these early morning thoughts with us…often they are the most profound and true. Your words struck a chord with me, so moving and full of warmth. In a world of a whirlwind of activity, craziness your succinct summing highlights life, its full circular existence. Beautiful. Xx

  5. Thank you for buckets of affirmation. For me, it’s also important to embrace my darkness. If I try to overlay grief, anger, etc. or skirt around them, they come back to bite me in the butt. It’s about comforting and mothering the parts that hurt and are neglected or banned. Thank you for buckets of affirmation. Repeat.

  6. I find fascinating your comment about taking experiences and learnings into the next life. I’ve heard that before and need to spend more time with that concept. I love the poem; it beautifully speaks to the essence of life. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Thanks so much Ann. I was told by a spirit medium a few years ago, when she was talking about my mother before she passed, that my mother hadn’t learned her life lessons in this life and that until they are learned they must come back and repeat. That’s would spurred this poem. 🙂
