Happy Canada Day! – Oh Canada, We Stand on Guard for Thee

Canada Day flag

I don’t usually post twice in a day, but given that Sundays are my book review days and today is the day we celebrate Canada’s 151st birthday I want to wish my beautiful country a Happy Birthday and pay tribute to my country especially in these hard times across the world, reminding me how grateful I am to be a free Canadian. Never in my life have the lyrics to our anthem touched me so deeply as it does today.

Canadian Flag

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all of us command.

With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!

From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

  1. A very Happy Birthday to Canada! 🇨🇦 Will you be celebrating at all? Are there national and local parties happening today? Personally it my husband’s and mine wedding anniversary so just starting the day with a special breakfast and presents outside … in the shade! Sooo tropical at the moment!

  4. Hi Debby – glad to see you’re away with family and friends – Happy Canada Day from an adopted Canadian for now! We’re muddled here – lots going on … waiting for family, and foals to be born!, while tomorrow we go for a picnic lunch overlooking the inlet – so generally life carries on! Happy days ahead … cheers Hilary

  6. Happy Canada Day (a hair late)! I count you and a host of bloggers and other friends as my wonderful friends from Canada! Hope it was a wonderful celebration. Our Independence Day is July 4th I’m sure you are aware. We could be more patriotic and it ends up being all about fireworks, legal and illegal!

    1. Thanks Terri. We had a wonderful celebration up in cottage country. We also have fireworks at our big parks, but here it’s not so much a big thing with fireworks. 🙂

    1. Thank you so much Christoph. So often we take things for granted, like our freedoms. This year’s celebration was more like an awakening with a double dose of gratitude. 🙂 ❤
