The question mark key has died on my keyboard.
What’s a writer to do when she can no longer ask questions.
Where are you from – I will forever wonder. Where is not a country.
What is your name – surely, your name is not what.
How did this come to be – I’ll never know the answer if I can’t raise the question.
What am I to do – who is this what that I’m to do something about.
Why has this happened to my keyboard – I’ll never know now because I can’t ask the question.
Surely, I can’t go through life with no question. I must fix that key in order to keep learning.
This poem was inspired by my broken question mark key on my laptop.
I absolutely love this! Makes me think of that stage when a toddler constantly asks why!! Where would life be without an inquiring mind?? And the odd question mark? 🤨

Your broken question mark key on your laptop is a good metaphor for the maddening mysteries of life. You waxed poetic through this challenge, so it’s not all bad. 🙂
Hoping for a quick solution, Debby!

Hi Debby – haven’t lost my question mark … lost other things though! But such a fun post … the whats and wheres of life – just one of those frustrations that hit us at times … see you with your new keyboard asking lots of questions soon – cheers Hilary

Lol, thanks Hilary. So far, no new keyboard. I am working with a handicapped question mark key LOL. I have it lamely working now due to some innovative temporary fix – a tiny piece of gum holding the key in place. LOLLLLLLLLLL ??? 🙂 xx

I have a different problem
Not so bad as yours
Through use of the commonest keys
My E has faded and my K is on its way
After years of typing, I know which is which

Lol John. I remember a few years back when I had a Dell laptop and something died in it, I had a tech support package with them and they sent a geek to my house to fix it. He asked while he was there if there was anything else. I mentioned that my ‘E’ key was sticking a lot, so he replaced it. Gratefully, I was a typist for years so I don’t have to look at the keys when typing, but the question mark, which of course, shares the backslash key for typing in website links is double annoying. Those days of home tech service are gone I’m sure, and I think I would have to purchase a new separate keyboard for my Windows Surface, so I’ve come up with a shameful fix, hope it lasts. Don’t ask! Lol 🙂

Brilliant Debby, I confess, I rely often on Word to point out to me I have asked a question. Though to be honest when I write my poems ending with a question, the powers that be who guide my pen lol, usually pen in a question mark..
So I must have paid some attention when at school 😀
That must be so annoying.. My old lap top had several keys which would stick, and I would get lines of the same letter across the page.. So know the feeling..
So loved your poetry streak my friend..
Hope it is soon fixed. ❤

Lol Sue. Perhaps you are guided by automatic writing. Sticky and broken keys is definitely a sign of a well used laptop, lol. I’ve created a makeshift temporary fix the other day to put off having to purchase a new keyboard. I’ll see how long that lasts. 🙂 Hugs my friend. ❤ xx

That’s pretty funny, Deb. My keyboard no longer shows M or N but at least they still work!

Lol Jacqui. I’m willing to bet there are a lot of well worn keys on many of our laptops, but ouch when the key is broken! I’ve devised a temporary fix, but it’s still annoying and hope it will do until I’m forced to purchase a new keyboard. 🙂

There is nothing worse than a faulty key! No more waffling and wondering allowed! Now you’ll just have to exclaim! I hope your problem is fixed soon!

Lol Diana I thought about that! An awful lot of emphasis! I wrote this a week ago and found a temporary fix – you don’t want to know LOLLLLLLLLLLLLL 🙂 x

Hahaha, what is a girl to do without a question mark? LOL. Almost as bad as having no comma key 😛 Since you can’t possibly have learned everything in life as of yet, you must get that question key replaced.
Great post, Deb! Made me smile.

Laughing–and also imagining the irritation. So good you turned it into humor. You bought a new keyboard, right? You haven’t yet? Life has enough hassles without a busted keyboard.

LOl, thanks Elaine. No, I haven’t yet bought a keyboard, I stuck a tiny piece of gum underneath the ‘?’ tile, lol. It works most of the time now, but not 100% reliable LOL 🙂
