We are the World Blogfest

Today is the last Friday of the month, and for #WATWB where we post about good things in the world on the last Friday of the month, I wanted to share this inspirational story about a Canadian girl, Becca Schofield, who passed away this year in February at the age of only 18 years old after battling terminal brain cancer but did not allow her death sentence to prevent her from sharing random kindness.

kindness quote D.G. Kaye

All this little girl wanted to do was to start a movement inspiring people to perform acts of kindness around the world and her movement spread to 94 countries, becoming a global movement with the hashtag #BeccaToldMeTo. The Canadian government has proclaimed September 15th as the Annual Becca Schofield Day.

  1. Hi Debby – amazing wonderful kid … she did so much before she died – and she’s inspiring so many to get out there and do Random Acts of Kindness … something we should all be doing more of … smiling at strangers is free and readily available each and every day – thanks for highlighting her … Definitely congratulations to Becca – I’ll remember her as I go through my days … cheers Hilary

    1. Thank you so much Hilary. You are correct, we all need to be spreading more kindness around! And, sorry for the errors, the post was unfinished and somehow scheduled but fixed now. 🙂 x

    1. Hi Jacqui! Thanks bunches. I’m actually not back yet and forgot this post was pre-scheduled, lol, but glad to be part of WATWB again this month. I try to get to Sally’s blog to keep up with current events from other blogs as I don’t have the nightly hours while away I spend at home. 🙂 I’ll be back in the groove by next weekend ❤

  2. What a wonderfully inspiring story about an amazing young woman. I’m sure that, as a Canadian, you feel extra proud, Debby. Becca’s years may have been few but she made a bigger impact than many achieve in many more years. What a great story to share. And it’s lovely to have you back in the blogosphere. I’ve missed your posts. 🙂

  3. It’s always a shame when someone passes away so young. And also such a wonderful thing that someone has the fortitude to share their compassion with others even as they are terminally ill. Such a great cause to make in such a young life!

  4. As a Canadian, I am so proud of the legacy that Becca Schofield left behind. Random kindness is often such a simple thing that is often dismissed. #BeccaToldMeTo will hopefully continue for years to come. Thank you so much for sharing this and for being a part of #WATWB.

  5. What a wonderful young lady who had so much positivity going through what she did. To fight for her life and stand up to make the world a better place, that’s something to be applauded. As Norah said, she made a big impact in such a short time. A great spirit. Lovely to see you back, Debbie, Like the new blog look too ❤

  8. Becca is a great inspiration for all of us to be kind but also when at the beginning of the video she wondered how to use the little time she had left. Most of us don’t know how much time we have left and yet we go around leaving things for tomorrow or believing we’ve got all the time in the world putting what really matters on the back burner. What do we want to accomplish that we keep putting off?
