I’m Back! – Not Thinking is a Great Stress Reliever! Beautiful #Sunsets

I’ve recently returned from a glorious two-month escape to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Our trip was fabulous, fun and oh so relaxing, but I will say that the mind often takes a little longer to catch up with the body when it comes to relaxing. It takes great mental concentration to not allow the mind to stray and wander back home to some of the crap we leave behind, or have to deal with upon return. But I did it!

How freeing it is to not have to think when we finally reach that point of letting go. The constant everyday issues of life become condensed to only one concern: What should we have for dinner tonight?” That should be my only worry.

Anyway, I digress (as usual). I purposely didn’t post here while away (with the exception of a pre-scheduled #WATWB post), because if I post, I like to reply to comments in a timely fashion and I just wanted to let go of all responsibilities. And I have to say, it did take me a good week at first to get into that relax mode. But once I did, it was exhilarating to escape real life worries and obligations. I caught up on some good reading time, although only reading 12 books, I’d planned to read more, but it seemed my social circles were growing by the day, creating many distractions.

I met a lot of people on my trip – some I’ll probably never see again, some who became new good friends, and of course, some rather unpleasant people too. But that’s another story for another day that I’ll no doubt be writing about – nasty people who have nothing better to do but gossip and stir shit for something to do. We had the usual chair wars (to be explained), and gained a ton of great tourist information from what has been deemed ‘the pool of knowledge’ where we all congregate in the afternoons to escape the hot sizzle in our lounge chairs, and mingling and sharing tips take place. We learn about some great places to visit, great restaurants to go eat, which grocery stores carry certain items, and who is who in the zoo, lol.

I hope I got your curiosity going enough to reading my next few blog posts where I’ll be elaborating on my trip and sharing some fun photos and tips. All said, it was a fabulous trip, and a great rejuvenation. Thanks for coming back to my blog to visit again and I hope to entertain you with some spectacular sunsets! I’ll leave you with a few here.

  1. Hi Debby – good to see you back … and so glad you had a happy time … life with people deals us so many hands: the vagaries of humanity. Gorgeous sunsets – and looking forward to hearing the ups and downs … cheers for now – Hilary

  2. I don’t think it’s possible to de-stress after just a weekend of even a week. You were fortunate to have an extended time in Mexico. Wow! Looking forward to you photos and travel tips.

    1. I agree Marian. I think when we’re younger a week seems a lot longer than when we’re older, lol. I remember when my husband and I were dating and traveling for a week he announced that a week was no longer a vacation. We moved up to 10 days then 2 weeks. The last few years of going for a month or so has been heavenly. 🙂

  3. You did the right thing by not publishing any posts while away, Debby. I can never understand why some bloggers continue publishing posts while they are away. It’s almost as if the whole blogging world will come to a standstill if they don’t publish anything. I’d hate the thought of not responding to comments or coming back to a huge amount of comments to moderate and reply to. The thought would spoil my holiday, but I guess it doesn’t concern everyone.

Looking forward to hearing more about the holiday. I know all about ‘chair wars’ but I know your version will have some humour.

      1. Of course, I should have added that I am that blogger who thinks the blogging world will come to a standstill if I don’t publish any posts. 😂Kudos to those who schedule posts while they are away and still respond to comments. I tried it, but it resulted in me not being able to switch off.

      2. I’ve been there too my friend. When I realized how much I needed a break, not to mention, the money spent on VACATION, I decided to take it seriously! LOL ❤

    1. Thanks so much Stevie. I wish! But no, we rent a condo on a well sought after property where it seems half of Canada does the same lol. We’d been renting from a property manager I found on VRBO originally 2 years ago, but after getting educated in the pool from others, we won’t be renting from them again. This year we stayed in a gorgeous penthouse condo owned by friends we met there last year. That was in January, and because February was already rented, I had to latch on to a different unit for that month. Let’s just say we went from the palace to the cottage, lol. From now on, we’ll be renting from our friends again. I’ll be posting about rentals in future updates and as well in my travel column next week at Sally’s blog. ❤

  4. I’m so glad you took a real vacation and didn’t worry about blogging. It does take a while to unwind and how nice to allow that to happen, to be fully immersed in the present, and enjoy all the beauty around you. Gorgeous sunsets, Debby. Glad you’re back!

  5. Nice to see you back, Deb, all rested and refreshed! I ended up with a lot of blog material from our winter roadtrip (you will have to read them when you get the chance!). Love your pics! We are heading to Hawaii in two weeks to work on our house (yes we have one…long story)!

  6. Lovely that you managed to ‘Let Go’ and release all of that which we no longer need as baggage to hang onto Debby. You made me smile when you said the only thing your thoughts were on were on what to have for dinner Lol.. My hubbies only concern is what is for dinner? lol
Looking forward to the Zoo episode.. 🙂 and only know from experience about chair wars in hotels.. 🙂 So pleased you met some lovely people… And unfortunately there are always the obnoxious ones…
So happy you had such a relaxing time and got loads of reading in..
I read nearly a whole book yesterday.. I didn’t budge.. And I too have been absent more than in WP recently..
Taking this year at a more relaxed pace with no pressures other than what to cook??? and eat haha…

LOVE and well wishes my friend..
Take care.. from rainy England.. ❤ ❤ ❤

    1. Lol Sue, you get me. And it seems you got the idea about the chair wars too! I’ll definitely be getting back to that in future posts! It was a fabulous timeout from life for sure. And love that you read almost a whole book escaping into a story for your own personal timeout. I love those moments. And I’m happy you are going to slow down your pace to what you need to feel peaceful. We all need to step out the constant sometimes. Lovely to see you my dear friend. ❤ xoxoxo Hugs!

  7. Welcome back, my lovely Deb! Can’t wait to read all about your adventures, so glad you were able to finally unwind and relax. I know just what you mean about it taking a while lol, and returning to the same ‘crap’…ha, such is life, eh? But so glad you had such a super time, despite those rude, gossiping people and inevitable chair wars!! You crack me up, ‘only 12 books’!!! I must be a super slow reader lol. Great to ‘see’ you again, my friend, gorgeous sunset pics too 🙂 ❤ xoxo

    1. Hello my friend! Thanks for the warm welcome. I’m sludging through the piles here but actually getting some work done! Lol, I figured I could read a few books a week seeing as I was being a lounge lizard by day, but of course there will several social interruptions where the book got put down lol. ❤ xoxo Stay tuned! ❤

    1. Hi Jeri. Thanks for the lovely welcome. While away I kept track of weather around North America. I know your mid-west got hit a lot, same as my hometown here in Toronto. Let’s hope the worst of it is over now. 🙂

  11. Welcome back, Debby! I have missed you. But, so nice you managed to let it all go for two months. I agree that it’s hard to be OK with that at first. I remember last summer, when we moved into Zesty, it took a good month before I allowed myself to not stress as much about work and other responsibilities and to realize we had, indeed, quit the business and all those worries. These days, since I still work on projects, it feels weird to actually enjoy an activity here and there, or do “nothing” for an hour. I envy your vacation and the fact that you read 12 books! This year, I’ve only been able to read half a book so far and just because I put a deadline on myself!

    1. Thanks Liesbet! We all go at our pace and that individually depends on the amount of work and life we have going on. You are remarkable to be such a multi-tasker and traveler while you both work. Every so often we all need to take a timeout and smell the roses along the way. Don’t beat yourself up for your little breaks. Enjoy them! 🙂 xx
