Every last Friday of the month We are the World Blogfest members post something inspirational to highlight some of the good being done in this world to deflect from all the negativity.
This month I have chosen to share this most awe inspiring young girl who is fighting to save the environment for her generation. The world should be concerned and doing their part to start helping out the future. Greta began taking off Friday’s at school in October 2018, to go sit in front of parliament to protest for climate change. Eventually, the numbers grew deeper with many who joined her. By December 2018, over 270 joined the protests every Friday around the world. By February 2019 scientists around the world joined the movement and Belgian Environment Minister resigns. Friday March 15 2019, she asked the world to ‘skip school’ for world student Friday protest. Listen to this brilliant mind. This girl is who Nobel Prizes are meant for.

Hi Debby – yes she has certainly hit the headlights … and we now have school kids campaigning on Fridays. We need to act though … all those things we know don’t help the planet … plastic bottles and bags – don’t use: clear them up, even if others drop them, don’t travel, wrap up more warmly – ie don’t use so much heating … it’s going to take some working on … and here I think about it … but don’t do much. If we all did a little more – it would help … I’ve yet to write mine – it’ll get up over the weekend … have a happy time – cheers Hilary

Wow, what an articulate and intelligent girl. Climate change is slowly but surely creeping up on us. I’m quite passionate about not cutting down trees, but still it goes on…

My family and I were talking about this young lady last Sunday. Friday a week ago was the first time I had heard about her, and I’m beyond impressed by her passion and her ideas. She gets my vote for a Nobel Prize.

Yes! We need more young people like Greta! And, we all need to change our own behaviors and take care of Mother Nature before it’s too late.
The only carbon footprint Mark and I have these years is our van, which we don’t drive too often. But, we racked up some “good points” by sailing for eight years and being totally self-sufficient. We even collected our own water and our own (solar) power. Thank you for this inspirational post!

What an amazing young woman! I had heard her speak a little in the past, but I used her TED talk to practice hearing. I heard her sincerity and learned a little more about her. What are we doing? I’m with Greta. Why aren’t we talking about this all the time? This week I began searching for the best way to get solar power to my house. There are a few good solutions. It’s nice to consider this possibility, but I have to do it. Thanks for the inspiration.
