Book Promotion – #Booklaunch – Jan Sikes – Ghostly Interference

Welcome to my last promo for 2020. Today I’m delighted to share author Jan Sike’s newest release – Ghostly Interference. Jan is an award winning author from Texas who writes fiction and poetry and more!

About Jan Sikes

Jan Sikes is an award-winning Texas author who has been called a wordsmith by her peers. She openly admits that she never set out in life to be an author. But she had a story to tell. Not just any story, but a true story that rivals any fiction creation. You simply can’t make this stuff up. It all happened. She chose to create fictitious characters to tell the story through, and they bring the intricately woven tale to life in an entertaining way. She released a series of music CDs to accompany the four biographical fiction books and then published a book of poetry and art to complete the story circle.

And now that the story is told, this author can’t find a way to put down the pen. She continues to write fiction and has published many short stories with a series of novels waiting in the wings. She is a member of Authors Marketing Guild, The Writer’s League of Texas, the RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB (RRBC), the RAVE WRITER’S INT’L SOCIETY OF AUTHOR (RWISA), sits on the RWISA Executive Council and hosts a monthly RAVE WAVES blog talk radio show, ASPIRE TO INSPIRE.

Hi, Debby! I cannot thank you enough for opening your blog site up to me to talk about my new book, Ghostly Interference! I deeply appreciate your generosity!

CHAKRAS

The Sanskrit word, Chakra, means wheel and refers to energy points in your body.
There are seven main chakras, and each of these has a corresponding number, name, color, specific area of the spine from the sacrum to the crown of the head, and health focus.

Chakras

In Ghostly Interference, Rena Jett notices a poster like the one above inside Jag’s apartment that puzzles her. So, when she asks him about it, he gives her a hands-on demonstration.

Blurb:

Jag Peters has one goal in his quiet comfortable life—to keep his karma slate wiped clean. A near-miss crash with a candy apple red Harley threatens to upend his safe world. He tracks down the rider to apologize properly. Slipping into a seedy biker bar, he discovers the rider isn’t a “he”, it’s a “she”, a dark-haired beauty.

Rena Jett is a troubled soul, who lives in a rough world. She wants no part of Jag’s apology, but even while she pushes him away, she is attracted to him. When he claims to see a ghost—her brother—can she trust him? And could her brother’s final gift, a magical rune stone with the symbol for “happily ever after” have the power to heal her wounds and allow opposites to find common ground—perhaps even love?

From the Author

I was in the middle of writing my second book, “The Convict and the Rose” when this story idea came to me. There was no way I could stop my work and start something new, so I jotted down some notes and wrote the first chapter, then went back to my current WIP. More than anything I wanted a publisher for this story. It took three years, but the wait was worth it! Many thanks to The Wild Rose Press for taking a chance on me and this story!

Excerpt:

“That poster in your dining room with the silhouette of the body and different
colored circles on it. What the hell is that?”

Jag chuckled. “It’s something my mom put up when I first moved in. It’s a chart of
the Chakras or power centers in the body.”

“I don’t know what that means.”

Jag placed his left hand just below her stomach. “This is your root chakra and it
is associated with the color red. It represents earthly things like home, money, and
security.”

She squirmed under his touch. “That’s just weird.”

“Maybe, but let me continue.” He moved his hand upward slightly. “And this is the
Sacral Chakra. It is the center of our emotions, sensuality, pleasure, and intimacy and is associated with the color orange.”

“Go on.” She barely whispered.

He placed his hand slightly above her flat stomach. “This one’s the Solar Plexus
and it’s the core of our personality, willpower, and self-esteem. Its color is yellow. Want me to stop?”

“No.”

He moved his hand between her breasts. Her breath quickened beneath his
palm. “This is the heart chakra. It’s my favorite. It is all about giving and receiving love and the colors are green and pink.”

She laid her hand over his. “You sure you’re not making this shit up?”

“I swear it.” He lightly caressed her throat. “The throat chakra is all about
communication and goes with the color blue. Ever wonder why our throat constricts when we hold back something we want to say?”

“Never really thought about it.”

“It throws that chakra out of balance.” He placed his index finger between and
slightly above her eyes. “This is the third eye. It is where our inner vision takes place and Indigo is its color.”

She closed her eyes. He placed his hand lightly on top of her head. “This is the crown chakra. It is the seat of cosmic consciousness or the divine and brilliant white light is associated with this area.”

He shifted and her eyes flew open.

“Holy shit,” she whispered. “I’d say that was weird, only I kinda liked it.”

“Then maybe you’ll kinda like this.” He propped himself up on one elbow and
leaned over her. He lowered his lips to hers.

She moaned and wrapped her arms around his neck. He took the opportunity to
slip his tongue between her parted teeth. A crazy song lyric flew through his head about kisses sweeter than wine.

***

I’m curious. Are you aware of your Chakras and what each represents? There is a lot of information online that can guide you if you want to learn more. But in the instance above, the lesson on Chakras led to a sizzling love scene.

  4. I love learning about chakras. I find it especially interesting when reading about how many of the ailments we feel within the body can be connected with the chakras and the disharmony within it. Thanks for sharing this excerpt with us, Jan. This book just keeps getting better and better. 🙂

    1. I love your comment, Yvette. I totally believe that the chakras being out of balance can cause physical illnesses. And when our throat is constricted, it’s usually because we are holding back our truth in communication. Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a comment! Merry Christmas!

  5. Jan, that love scene is very sensual. I loved how their love grew as their relationship progressed. They were such opposites. The title – Opposites Attract – that you gave it way back when you started writing the story was perfect for the story. Too bad your editor changed it. They were polar opposites in every way except one. I also love how you integrated chakras, tarot, runes, and Sam’s ghost into the story. Very smart! I love you dearly, little sister.

    1. Thank you, sister. My working title was “When Two Worlds Collide.” I wish they would have liked it but I understand the difficulty of marketing something with so many titles the same. It really did describe the story, though. 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed this scene. I really enjoyed writing it! Thanks for stopping by. I love you!
