Well, a day late, but I’m getting my Friday post up today on Saturday. My life is very crazy right now, so my posts throughout the coming weeks and month will be erratic. Besides the grieving journey I’m on now for my husband, I am also moving! Yes, that is a story in itself, but suffice it to say, I’m moving to a smaller condo in the same complex, and that involves cleaning out ‘our’ life and getting rid of so many things in order to final downsize. Besides the physical gruel of this mission, don’t get me started on the emotional gruel it takes to look at every single thing we’ve owned and shared together. But that will be a post for another day. In the meantime . . .
I’ve been curating and keeping some great help articles for writers and bloggers, and there are some goodies in this edition – new Kindle Vella for serial publishing, creating animated logos in Canva, #Audiblegate and more!

Hi Debby, in many ways this clear out and move will be good for you and help you reach some sort of closure. It is also better to be busy I think, thank to sit and think to much. Thanks for sharing all these super links.

Thanks Robbie. You’re so right, as I’ve been busy since my husband got very sick, through his death and after, with one thing or another. I just keep going like a Duracell battery – always with tissues in hand. But believe me, moving is farrrrrrrrrrrr from closure, maybe taking steps forward, but I don’t think there will ever be closure. Glad you found some links helpful. β€

I can understand the downsize and move to stop seeing reminders. Tough thing to do; but maybe it gets the pain through sooner.
Definitely some useful things here–like stay the hell AWAY from Audible! As for Vella–doubtful it’s an audience I’d be interested in; I’m guessing it’s going to be teens and 20-somethings predominantly, reading on phones.

Everytime you do one of these posts, I leave with a bunch of blog posts to visit! These look like great ones, Debby. So once I’m done here, I’m off.
And moving. That has to be super tough so soon after losing the love of your life. What an emotional time. I’m glad you aren’t going far, so not everything is changing for you. Take extra good care of yourself and ask for help when you need it, and when you don’t. β€ β€ Hugs.

Hi Debby – oh … gosh you’ve added to the change – I suspect in due time, it will be a good thing – but for now – you must be wondering. As you say – not much time to think and dwell … but all the very best for the ‘now’ – I hope the change goes relatively smoothly. I do feel for you, but admire your tenacity for making wise choices just now – even if you are coping with such a huge loss and its personal grief. It won’t be easy, yet life will be easier as you move forward with your desperate change in life. With many thoughts – Hilary

Thanks so much Hilary. Despite my heavy journey, I still believe in signs, and this move definitely fell into my lap. I’m pretty sure my husband made it happen as it is necessary, and we were both thinking of moving this past winter. He just kept the chain of events happening. I have to believe β€

My dad passed last October and I just went to see a summer house he left us. The shock of feeling his presence everywhere was overwhelming – I needed days to get over it. We’re now planning to go this weekend again to clear up some of his stuff and, frankly, I’m dreading it. Honestly, I can’t even imagine what you’re going through. But I am admiring your courage more than I can say and I’m sending you a big hug.
Thanks for sharing my posts!

Thank you so much for sharing some of your own loss here Nicholas. I’m so sorry about the passing of your dad. How wonderful he left you a summer house. No doubts you will experience many strange, cutting, familiar feelings that will hurt deep within. From everything I’m reading and learning, this grief is stemmed from love. As long as we love, we feel, and it’s up to us to find a way to find a peace with this new way of feeling. I hope we both find it eventually. β€

I can’t imagine what it must be like having to make these difficult decisions about things from your joint lives when you’re still at the start of the grieving process. I think it’s a wise and sensible thing to do, but that doesn’t make it any less painful. β€

Thank you for compiling these articles and tips, Debby. I’d been wondering about Kindle Vella – I will read that post next – and, one day, when I have nothing else to do, I’d love to play around in Canva. Let’s hope that won’t be another year. π After six months of publishing Plunge, I still haven’t created a banner of my book, or adjusted my several account and social media bios to include that I’m a published author…
Wishing you strength – physically and mentally – during your downsizing and move. I usually find it liberating to get rid of stuff, but in your case, this will come with lots of pain. I’m so sorry.

Hi Debbie,
I give you kudos, for making the move. I’ve often thought of selling my house we had together. What I did, was make changes to the decor, to make it my place rather than our place. In essence, you are doing the same with your move. It does help when you are alone and look at all the things that bring back memories. A word of advice, don’t attempt to remove those memories that hurt now. Someday soon, those memories will put a smile on your face. You will realize those memories are precious and you will always cherish them. If you recall my post centered around Garth Brooks’ ‘The Dance. “I could have missed the pain, but I’d have had to miss the dance.” HUGS

Thanks, Debby. Great content that I will check. I hope the move works well, although it will be hard. Even in the best of circumstances, a move is stressful (it is considered a major life event), although I hope things will get more manageable afterwards. Try not to exhaust yourself, though. Sometimes we get into a frenzy of activity as a way of coping, and we end up worn out. I wish I was closer to give you a hand. Take care, dear Debby.
