MIND, PEN, AND SPIRIT: INTERVIEW WITH D.G. KAYE
Once again I’d like to share an interview I recently did with Karen Ingalls of Mind, Pen, And Spirit. Karen had read my book, Words We Carry, and invited me over to her blog to talk about some issues many of us encounter in our lives. She was interested in my views on self-esteem, bullying with words, and tools I used to overcome my own experiences. Have a read below, then please follow the link to continue reading at Karen’s blog.
Bullying is a prominent problem in our society. Do you have suggestions on how this can be best addressed?
“I wish I had the answer to that Karen. When we hear the term bullying, it conjures up visions of children being picked on in schoolyards, but the term unfortunately, applies to many situations. Bullying is rampant in our own homes too, taking on many forms, particularly, emotional verbal bullying, not only physically.
I believe it’s up to us as good citizens to advocate for kindness. I know I do. It doesn’t cost anything to be nice to someone. Nobody wants to have their flaws made fun of and nobody is perfect either. If we’d all just have some empathy and step into the shoes of others, we’d learn how terrible it feels to be bullied. It is often those with no regard for other’s feelings, who have a need to feel superior to others by belittling them. These people need to become aware of their wrongdoings, and I think the least we can all do is advocate by spreading positive messages in our dialogues and writing. If people hear things long enough, they’re likely to consider their actions. . “.Continue Reading

Bullying can sometimes shock members of a family. Raw meanness against one person can be really surprising that it wasn’t generalized. The one who gets hurt the most is often a “scapegoat,” which can also mean others join in the abusive treatment, sometimes verbally scarring a child for the rest of their life.
I admire you, Debby. You have a story to share, which will shed light on the sad, dark path of some one who deserves love, affection and finally found their way out into the light. hugs xo

Thank you so much Robin. I truly hope that my words and stories can help others to see the light. 🙂 <3

Bullying can be life destroying and I agree with you when you say bullying of any kind. I know first hand how it feels to be bullied all day, every day. My ex was a master of it, thankfully out of my life now but I still get flashbacks but with Becca`s love I am closer to sorting that out than I ever was.
dgkaye
Thanks for sharing that piece of you Adele. I’m truly gobsmacked by the amount of people in my circles alone that have been victims of abuse and/or bullying. It’s truly appalling to think how many. I am so happy to hear that, not only have you escaped the clutches of the bully, but that you’ve found someone you feel safe with and you are making progress dealing with the past. <3

I think people underestimate the power of the mind. You mentioned positive thinking and truly, I can’t emphasise enough how much I believe that’s true. It’s like the book The Secret, I really do believe that if you want something bad enough you can get it (if you take enough action of course!)
dgkaye
I’m with you on that thinking Sach. I believe we get what we focus on, so may as well focus on good things! 🙂
