Non-US Self-Publisher? Tax Issues Don’t Need to be Taxing.

I absolutely had to post this link to Catherine Ryan Howard’s blog and discussion with David Gaughran. It is chock-full of information for authors concerned about the U.S. tax laws if they are not U.S. citizens. I myself, had been trying to find bits of information here and there to prepare for the publication of my book this fall to keep a step ahead before losing my 30% in withholdings to book distributors due to non U.S. status. I would also like to give a shout-out to Maia Sepp, a generous author who has brought this information to my attention when I discovered her reading an article in the Indie Newspaper – Paperli.

It is so wonderful to be able to have so much kindness and support from fellow Indie’s in this exciting journey of birthing a book and learning how to set it free into the world. We all work to write better books and to work harmoniously with one another is a blessing.

Being Prepared is being a great step ahead of the game!

Note: Since this publication, Amazon has begun accepting Canadian Social Insurance Numbers in order to avoid paying taxes to the IRS, instead of the going through the whole U.S. filing process. Click on the links above to find out more and you will also notice that comments have been closed on the original post, but still a wealth of information.  Here is a link with more details  http://selfpublishingadvice.org/tax-on-usa-author-royalties/
