I really enjoy hearing from fellow memoirists who have crossed the finish line already. I especially like knowing how others family members react. When it comes to telling long held secrets, you know there is going to be upset. I find strength in knowing I’ll have company. Thanks for sharing the interviews!

Hi Mandy, thanks for visiting. Yes, it takes a different kind of nerve for a memoir writer to share raw emotions publicly. It is lovely to meet you, and like you said, it is great to connect with other memoirists. I have recently begun to meet some new acquaintenances in memoir writing, such as you, LaTanya Davis, Linda Gray Sexton, and Sherrey Meyers.
We will never please everyone and our truth is how we remember the story and the impact it had on us. Thanks so much for reading, and lovely to connect. 🙂

I’m so glad we connected, too, D.G. I look forward to meeting more memoir writers. There wasn’t a follow button at the top of your blog screen, but now I hope I figured out how to follow you (by copy and pasting your URL into my blogs-to-follow bar) 🙂

Hi Mandy. There isn’t a follow button because I own my own site but on the top of the side bar there is a sign up for getting emais from my posts. 🙂

Debby, I really liked your answers to these two questions.I was particularly struck by how family and friends cheered you on and, in comparison to Linda Gray Sexton whose family wasn’t too happy, I was reminded that it’s a good thing to stick with people who are positive and supportive of our work. Of course, there’s really nothing you can do about family and there will ALWAYS be people who like to criticize. Onward forward, my friend! 🙂

Thanks Carol. Publishing was the scary part for me so I know exactly what Linda meant. Everybody’s life is different, and in my situation, my siblings had all endured similar crap so I felt as though I was speaking for them too. I did run my book through all my siblings for feedback and so they wouldn’t be shocked. That made me feel better about publishing. As memoir writers, we have to digest it all before we can share with the world. And yes, we will never please everyone! 🙂

I have been following along! Haven’t been able to comment, but….I am very much loving reading these answers! It’s all exciting and informative and as always, you share your heart…and it shines, so so bright! <3 ~

I am truly touched. <3 I figured you have enough going on in your own end, I have noticed your absence even on FB :(. Hoping all is well and you are wearing your "rhino skin." :) <3
