Sunday Book Review – The Ultimate #Vegan Mug Cake – Zoe Hazan

The Sunday Book Review – something a little different – The Ultimate Vegan Mug Cake. I have toppling over my Kindle, so many books. Occasionally, when I’m still reading a longer book not yet finished or reviewed, I’ll dig out a shorter book to read in between so I can have a book to review. I picked up this little book when I saw it on free offer from one of the book sites I subscribe to. I’ve been collecting these instant ‘mug’ recipes along my travels for quick eats or a quick dessert so I was happy to find this little gem with a plethora of delicious, healthy and quick desserts.

  1. The idea of a mug cake is interesting to me, Debby. It makes sense for smaller families and seems relatively quick and easy to make. A great review.

    1. True Sal. It’s call vegan because only natural ingredients, no dairy so perfect for me. I make a lot of Paleo and Vegan meals and snacks without being either one. 🙂 ❤

  2. Great recommendation, Debby! I started collecting recipes on Pinterest when I wrote my cupcake themed book, and I’ve become addicted (to the pins and the books, thankfully, rather than to eating them all the time), but delicious, healthy, and quick! Well, who could pass on that! Genious!

  3. “Quick, easy, and delicious” seems to be the summary of this book, Debby. Did you try any of the recipes yet? I remember Mark’s nephew giving me a paper pouch with a substance in it that required a bit of milk, a stir, and a minute in the microwave when we were visiting my in-laws. A brownie-tasting desert came out. It was tasty and easy, but I doubt it was nutritious or healthy! Maybe these recipes are healthier… too bad we usually don’t have enough power to run our microwave. 🙂

    1. Well yes, these are quick microwave desserts. And they are healthy (despite the microwave part), and allergan free with no dairy. Yes, I tried the cinnamon one and it’s delish! I know the one you’re talking about. I bought the Betty Crocker chocolate mug cake once for my hub. It is not healthy and now making these an alternative. 🙂

  4. Interesting–was trying to figure out WTF a “mug cake” is until I read the review. Maybe something that looks like a booking photo? Or perhaps something you plaster on someone instead of a cream pie. Alas, nothing quite so odd or funny. LOL.
