VAMPYRIE: Origin of the Vampire by Tina Frisco

What if vampires were not the undead, but rather the dying? What if there were two factions among vampires: the sustained and the unsustainable? And what if those factions were at war with one another over the life of a young woman who promised them a future? Vampyrie brings the myth of the vampire into the realm of possibility.

Let Us Keep Our Hearts Open by Tina Frisco guest writing at The Story Reading Ape’s Blog

Inspirational Posts shared by DGKaye

I am going to start featuring and posting inspirational posts I’ve come across  and to start the ball rolling, I’m starting with Tina Frisco’s heartening post, teaching us how to keep our hearts open. Tina recently featured this article on the Story Reading Ape’s blog,

Let Us Keep Our Hearts Open – Guest Post by, Tina Frisco…

It is easy to close our hearts; not so easy to keep them open. Or so it seems …

When we experience emotional pain, a common human response is fight or flight. Become angry or shut down. Neither of these reactions solves anything, and both can cause serious health problems if sustained over time.

Fear is the culprit in any action or reaction that is not love-based. It obscures awareness and keeps us ignorant of its deleterious effects. It constricts our bodies, imprisons our minds, catapults our emotions, and darkens our spirits. When trapped in fear, it is impossible to keep our hearts open.

If we close our hearts to one, we close them to all. Open is open and closed is closed. At one time, this was a difficult concept for me to get my head around. I thought I could open and close my heart at will, as easily as I removed and replaced the lid to the peanut butter jar. I soon learned how utterly deceptive this was. I began to feel as if I were zip-tied to a revolving door.

A husband and wife are furious with each other. Unaware of the discord, their daughter approaches them and asks for $20. Neither one hears her above the internal argument they are having with one another. The daughter asks again but is refused. She raises her voice and says, ‘What’s the big deal? It’s only $20!’ One of her parents reacts by slapping her hard across the face. Immediately contrite, the parent apologizes for behavior that was clearly out of character.

When storming in anger, simmering in blame, or smoldering in hurt, the heart automatically begins to close. This is a defense mechanism that frequently backfires, hurting not only the victim of our troubling emotions, but ourselves as well. The oftener we close our hearts, the nearer our subconscious moves toward believing this is the way we want to be in the world. Since the role of the subconscious is to serve, it will do all in its power to manifest this belief.  Continue Reading . . .

Reblog Share

I wanted to share this beautiful post I was surprised to find over at Tina Frisco’s blog while doing my nightly blog visits. I say surprised because Tina hadn’t informed me she wrote it, and I was most touched to find, not only Tina’s kindness for posting a feature about me, but the beautiful comments left on the post.

Sometimes we’re just all busy doing what we do without realizing the impact we’ve made on others. My heart was truly touched when I read these comments, affirming my friendships with these other bloggers and writers and confirming that the words I share across the Web do in fact form a connection with others and offer value.

#AUTHOR/BLOGGERSPOTLIGHT D.G. KAYE AKA DEBBY GIES

While I was on break preparing my first novel for republication, I missed several wonderful posts by my lovely friend Debby Gies.  Debby is one of the most supportive authors it is my privilege to know. She writes compelling memoirs and has five outstanding books to her name. Find them HERE.

Debby’s latest memoir, P.S. I Forgive You, was published in October 2016 and has received nothing less than 5-star reviews.

P.S. I Forgive You by D.G. Kaye

Aside from sharing the work of fellow authors, Debby also writes thought-provoking articles and regularly shares helpful tips.  I’d like to share a few of these now. Perhaps you missed them as well. Since I’m still in catch-up mode,  I’m including a few of her later posts.

I hope you enjoy these as much as I have ❤

#BookRelease – Plateau: Beyond the Trees | TINA FRISCO

Today I’m happy to reblog my dear friend Tina Frisco’s post about the FREE promo she is running.

Tina has been through all sorts of hoops trying to regain her first book, Plateau, back from the original publisher. She waited until her contract was up to claim it back and found that they still wanted to charge her an exorbitant amount of money to have her book back, but I helped her come up with a plan to get it back free and it worked. I’m not going into details but suffice it to say. she had a lot of work to do after, reformatting and editing and today her book is back on Amazon as the author and publisher and in honor of that she is offering the book FREE!

If you haven’t read this amazing book, here’s your chance to grab it now! I wrote a review on this book last year that you can read HERE. Please read the heartfelt post Tina has written to share her newly published book below.

#BOOKRELEASE – PLATEAU: BEYOND THE TREES

I am pleased to announce the release of the 2nd edition of my first novel, PLATEAU.
Plateau: Beyond the Trees by Tina FriscoAvailable in both eBook and paper.

They will show in the Amazon store within 3-5 business days but are available now through the Kindle and CreateSpace stores. The old version is still showing on Amazon but will be removed.

To celebrate, the eBook will be free to download from the 15th through the 19th.

Download it HERE.

I’m so grateful to have this task behind me! It took quite a bit longer than I expected, largely due to how poorly I wrote five years ago compared with now. I decided to give the book a quick overhaul, forgetting it was not a vehicle that merely needed an oil change. And once I started, there was no turning back. I did all the formatting, which can be a nightmare. But I learned a lot when I published my book Vampyrie last December, and fortunately I remembered most of it.

I also needed to make a cover. On the front I wanted to use the same image, which was created by a friend of mine and was easy to upload. I used GIMP  to apply the text. Since CreateSpace’s cover design choices are limited, the back cover was more of a challenge. How to get the color I wanted? I was blessed with a light-bulb moment. I scanned a sheet of white paper into my computer, uploaded the image into GIMP, applied color, and added the text. This project was a full day’s work. When I uploaded it to CreateSpace, it looked fine. But CS said the text went too far to the border (even though it was within the border shown), so I had to redo the text, which took another half day. (I need to go to GIMP school.)

During all of this, my mum became seriously ill and had to be hospitalized. I thought I might have to hop a train and travel cross country. Thankfully she recovered and is doing well.

Now that the dreaded book business is completed (I need to go to formatting school), I can resume writing posts and visiting blogs. I can tackle that collapsing pile of books on my TBR. I can open the stack of mail on my desk.  Maybe I’ll get around to cleaning and doing the laundry. My neglected little car needs a bath, and I really should jump in the shower. Wash my hair? Yes, I need to do that as well. I even hope to go out to dinner or the movies before the end of the year. An author’s work is never done.   Please continue reading . . .

When I Am Not Enough… Guest Post by Tina Frisco… Inspiration

Reblog and featuring

Time for a little inspirational guidance from our compassionate and wise friend Tina Frisco.

Tina’s words are empowering. In this wonderful article she wrote as a feature on Chris Graham’s blog (The Story Reading Ape), Tina talks about self-love, gratitude and forgiveness.

When I am not Enough by Tina Frisco

Throughout our lives, we hear ourselves say:  ‘I’m not that good!’  ‘I’ll never make it.’  ‘I wish I could write that well.’  ‘If only I had said. . .’

Words are powerful. Energy follows thought. The words we speak to ourselves drive our subconscious minds. Diminishing thoughts tell the subconscious we are not enough.

The subconscious mind is self-serving. Its mission is to fulfill our every desire, and it sets in motion the means by which to do so. It takes our words at face value and strives to manifest what they represent. It assumes that what we think and say is what we hope and dream.

How often have we heard ourselves utter, ‘Did I say that’? Unless we’re channeling spirit, the mouth speaks what the subconscious mind thinks. If thought rests in the conscious mind, we are aware of it and can choose whether or not to give it a voice. If thought rests in the subconscious mind, we might find ourselves surprised by our own words.

Negative off-hand remarks might seem benign, yet they are potent energy viruses that infect the subconscious mind through repetition; repetition which, over time, becomes emphatic. The virulence of this self-denial is potentiated by the subterranean stream of thought that mirrors the spoken word and continues feeding the subconscious. The subconscious then compels us to speak what it believes to be our truth.

This might seem like a vicious cycle that can’t be broken; yet anything is possible, because nothing is set in stone. Even dense matter can be converted to energy.

The way out is the way in.

If we wish to realize our full potential, we need to become witness to ourselves. We must remain alert to and aware of all we manifest in word and deed. And we must do this without judgment.

Labels proclaim. Proclamation reinforces. Reinforcement cements. Cement imprisons.

Your mind is a powerful thing.

When you filter it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change.

Rejection: the Ultimate Teacher – Guest Post by author Tina Frisco… | Chris The Story Reading Ape’s Blog

Reblog and featuring

Friend and author Tina Frisco has written a beautiful piece for The Story Reading Ape’s blog about how we deal with rejection. In her article she explains how we perceive rejection and how to analyze our emotions in order to look at rejection taking into consideration the source and how to overcome the negative feelings we absorb from rejection.

Rejection comes in many forms, from many places, and is very painful. What makes rejection so devastating? What causes us to react in a particular way? How can we use rejection to our advantage?

On a purely instinctual level, rejection threatens to extinguish our life force by depriving us of vital nourishment. No being can truly thrive without some measure of love and acceptance.

Rejection devastates when we attach our personal worth to someone or something outside of ourselves. Feeling worthy only when liked and accepted by those with whom we engage sets the stage for rejection.

When feeling disliked or ignored by another, it’s wise to step back and view that person’s behavior as a mirror our own subconscious. Often the things we don’t like in ourselves are reflected back to us by others, giving us an opportunity to examine what prompts us to react and how we might change. This not only buffers the impact, but also opens the door to personal growth. Becoming the witness rather than the recipient allows us to determine if our behavior rather than our essence is being rejected, or if the other person’s bias in play, and/or if we’re simply misreading all the cues. Addiction and The Power of Letting Go – Guest Post…Tina Frisco| Chris The Story Reading Ape’s Blog

Reblog and featuring

Addiction and the Power of Letting Go

Today I’m reblogging a poignant post Tina Frisco has written for the Story Reading Ape’s blog. The article delves into the Power of Letting Go of our addictions, which I thought would be a fitting post to end the year and begin a fresh one with positive thinking. The power remains in our subconscious as Tina tells us, and shows us a method to deal with our addictions.

“You’re extremely disgusted with an old habit. You’re ranting. You’re pacing. You’re regurgitating. You’re spent. You pick yourself up from the floor, dry your tears, and swear on your life that this is the last time. You throw away all accouterments, all paraphernalia, all reminders of the loathed and dreaded addiction. You make it through the day with firm resolve. Then you awaken the following morning with an insatiable craving. You recall your commitment and fight doggedly not to give in. You argue with yourself. You become frustrated. The stress grows into a pressing mass in your belly. Then suddenly… a comforting thought: One more day won’t hurt! You acquiesce. You give in. And the roller coaster ride begins…

A teacher once told me that the masters, the avatars, often carry an addiction in order to stay in form — to remain incarnate. She explained that the addiction weights them down, anchors them in the physical, and without it they would ascend into the realm of spirit. This implies choice. It implies that they’re in charge. It suggests they have power over their thoughts and actions.

But most of us mortals fall prey to addiction unconsciously, without awareness. Prompted by pleasure or necessity, we engage in an activity that, over time, becomes a habit — a predator – a persecutor. And we soon learn how difficult it can be to break its hold on us.

Addiction controls us because if we let it go, a void is created, a void that the subconscious mind fears and seeks to fill. If we have nothing at the ready with which to replace it, the old and familiar will quickly return, like water filling a hole.

The most effective way to let go the old is to simultaneously bring in the new. . . .Continue Reading
