D.G. Kaye's books

I came across this wonderful review of my book Have Bags, Will Travel, on Marsha Ingrao’s blog, Marshajustwrites.com. It’s always a thrill to have a shiny new review for our books, but Marsha’s review was sheer entertainment and had me in stitches. Read part of the review here. And please continue over to Marsha’s page to read the rest with her witty ad lib.

Have Bags, Will Travel D.G. Kaye

Have Bags, Will Travel has the traveling hints you need to remember why you travel. The book is a short, easy-to-read, humorous essay by D. G. Kaye.

Traveling Hints for Changing Times

D.G. Kaye has a long history of loving to shop when she travels. We all want to bring back something from our traveling. Right?  But how much is too much? And how do we get it through customs?

D.G. Kaye packed and traveled differently in the past.  How has she coped with the many changes in the travel industry? Has airport security threatened her travel buying? As you will see, she offers creative tricks to pack and still have fun shopping.

Follow D.G. Kaye and her friends as she travels to Paris, London, Las Vegas, Greece, Venezuela, and Arizona. Pay attention to her traveling hints about locations to visit. For example, she describes her reaction to the transition from old Vegas to the Vegas we know today.

Have you ever traveled in a garbage can lid? Find out how it’s done, and what to wear!

Ever break a foot while traveling? It happened to D.G. and another friend of mine, too. Bad memories are often the funniest, and make the trip memorable.

Has your suitcase ever come down the baggage ramp unzipped, exposed with tire treads stamped across your clothes? Hmmmm. Poor Debby!

    1. Your reviews are lovely and thorough Jacqui. Everyone has their own style, and I have to admit, I’d never seen such a fun and interesting spin on a review like this. Lucky me, it was for my own book! 🙂

    2. I’m sure your reviews are great, Jacqui! Thanks for your kind words, though! I’d love to feature one of your book reviews on my blog. 🙂

  6. Love it…got it ready to read! I have ideas for other writing projects, shorter reads than my memoir. It’s great to see you can write a fun, humourous memoir as a short read. I always think I don’t have enough to put in a book with my other ideas, but now I can see that I’m on the right track and don’t need to get hung about that. So I have a lot to thank you for Deb, trail blazing the way for me and helping validate my thouhts on future writing projects. Fantastic review my friend, congratulations! 🙂 >3 xoxo

    1. Thanks Sher! Memoir is memoir right? It’s stories about anything we’ve experienced, not always about the sad parts of our lives. Glad I’ve given you some food for thought. That book is more like little essays, as is Words We Carry and Menowhat? A Memoir. Certainly you have other beautiful stories you may want to write down the road. 🙂 <3 xoxoxo

      1. It’s a great idea, to put little essays of memoir into a book. I have thought about it before, but since I’m so engrossed in ‘the memoir’ as you know, I haven’t been able to give it much time, although I’ve written several for anthologies and other guest posts…not to mention, on my blog! So yes…down the road, time to think more seriously about this! As you say, memoir is memoir! Thanks again Deb, you’re the best! 🙂 <3 xoxo

        1. Aw, my pleasure Sher! One step at a time my friend, just some future food for thought! 🙂 xoxo

          1. Absolutely…I love talking all things memoir with you Deb…and other things too, of course, lol 🙂 Thanks so much… <3 xoxo

  7. How exciting to have a shiny new book review and that it is such an entertaining one too! Congrats xx And well deserved!

    1. Thanks sweet Christy. Yes, it was lovely and thoroughly entertaining. <3

  8. I saw this on Google+. Glad you reminded me, though. I like the way you added a picture on your blog. That is a nice way to personalize a reblog. Thanks again for reblogging and your kind comments! 🙂

    1. Thanks again Marsha. I always like to add my own photo when I reblog to personalize, and also because I’m never sure of the original sourced image by the original author, wanting to avoid copyright issues. 🙂

I'd love to hear your thoughts
