#WATWB – Random Acts of Kindness from Strangers
Random Acts of Kindness
Another month is coming to an end, and once again it’s time to participate in the #WATWB – (We are the World Blogfest), where we share something we’ve come across that demonstrates a random act of kindness. If you’d like to participate and add a post about something inspirational, you can find the link at the end of this post to add your own.
I found this article on Facebook. A stranger leaves hand-knitted scarves in a park in Vermont for anyone to take if they’re cold. What a beautiful gift for someone in need, someone who is cold and maybe cannot afford the proper articles to stay warm against the elements.
How often do we pick up our knitting needles with a project to keep ourselves busy, or just to relax, with no intent of giving it to anyone, just knitting for the sheer pleasure and relaxation? So if you find yourself with extra knitted projects locked away in a drawer, perhaps you’ll consider leaving them somewhere, or donating them to a place where people in need can access them freely. *And don’t forget to attach a tag if you leave your gifts in random places to let people know it’s okay to take them.
Your co-hosts for this month for the We are the World Blogfest are: Shilpa Garg, Inderpreet Uppal, Sylvia Stein, Susan Scott, Andrea Michaelsand Damyanti Biswas .
You can add your inspirational posts to share to this blogfest HERE.

It is these random acts of kindness that restore my faith in humanity.

Hi Debbie – fascinating to see what can be done with extra time and extra wool and a little forethought about how to promote the idea … love it – and now it’s the right time of year – cheers Hilary

Hi Hilary. Lovely to see you here. And so true, a simple gesture of kindness can be such a grand one to someone less fortunate. <3

Hilary. Your blog never lets me post comments or share anything? I’m following your blog but can only read it?

I love these ideas. Two really cool things I’ve seen shared lately are little food pantries in small little houses that resemble Little Free Libraries but with can soups and grocery staples for people who are in need of something and don’t have any money to go to the store. I also saw feeding/watering systems set up for stray dogs so they wouldn’t starve. I love these things especially since there is so much bad stuff going on in the world today.

Oh those are such wonderful gestures. Thanks for sharing that Lana. I have noticed many coffee houses here in summer leave out dog bowls of water for patrons who sit outside with their pets. Common sense really, but a lovely gesture. 🙂 xx

One of the things I like most about this is that the giver doesn’t require any recognition or thanks. They simply see a need and meet it, and may never see the result but are content in knowing they did a helpful thing.

Hi Lynda. Absolutely, no recognition necessary when we give from the heart. 🙂

Lovely post Debby.. and even if we are not knitters, perhaps we can all think of something to make a difference to someone.. even if it is only time we share. hugs xx♥

Absolutely Sal. Time is definitely a valuable commodity! 🙂 <3

I’ve mentioned it before – for me, the random acts of kindness are the best!
They’re unexpected and the element of surprise makes it even more special!

Great share! I’ll have to come up with something else of my own creation to give–free books doesn’t do much for keeping people warm or fed. I’m not sure I’ve ever even picked up a pair of knitting needles. 🙂

LOL John! 🙂 😉

Thanks so much for sharing this. What a beautiful act of practical kindness. It’s always wonderful to hear about people caring for one another. 🙂
dgkaye
I thought so too. Thank you Cathleen 🙂

Great post Debby thank you! Something similar happened here in South Africa some months back; maybe the idea s spreading and souls are scarfing around …
dgkaye
Lol Susan, nice pun. But I hope you are right. We have to keep spreading the positive stuff around and let it catch. 🙂

It must be starting to get cold in Vermont this time of year. What a beautiful and timely act of warmth, on so many levels.
dgkaye
Thanks Simon. Every good gesture counts. 🙂

I’m always touched when I see a RAK. My family and I give and help whenever we can. Any kind act, small or large, makes this world a better place. I LOVE this idea. ❤️❤️❤️ Will pass it on to friends and family who crochet.

Thanks my kind friend. And congrats on your book!!!!!!!!!!! I told you to let me know. I just did a post with new books 2 days ago. No worries, I’m adding yours to the post!!! And yes, of course I have my copy! <3

What a wonderful person to be doing this. I am especially grateful for creative minds leaving hand-knitted scars right now, as I’m feeling a tad chilled myself. Almost time to turn the heat on!?
dgkaye
Yes, it’s quite nippy out now, but hey, it’s almost Christmas! <3

Such simple ideas, Debby, but they make such a big difference. 💕

Often it’s the simple comforts we take for granted that can be the biggest thing for one less fortunate. 🙂 xx

Oh this is such a nice act of kindness that you’re highlighting! I also heard about people wrapping scarves around trees in the downtown area here for homeless people to take as they need. Kindness makes this world beautiful.
dgkaye
Thanks Christy! And thanks for sharing that other beautiful idea of hanging scarves on trees. So beautiful! <3 xxx
