#WATWB – We are the World Blogfest – Keeping the Homeless a Little Warmer
#WATWB Welcome to this month’s edition of We are the World Blogfest where a group of writers post something positive going on around the world to deflect from the negativity. This month I wanted to share this video of this amazing woman who collects empty foil bags from potato chips, etc. to create thermal blankets for the homeless.
Around the world so many people are stepping up and doing amazing projects to help the disadvantaged. I also want to give a shoutout to he many women around the world making masks in their homes and donating to medical facilities and to individuals in need of a mask. The world may look crappy at the moment, but with so many heroes in our world, we will all prevail!
This woman in the UK collects crisp (potato chip) and another foil bags from snacks and creates the heat blankets to keep the homeless warm and protect the blanket underneath from the elements.
I found the video on Facebook

Hi Debby – how amazing, as she says, I hadn’t seen this and usually watch Channel 4 news – and the town is only 15 miles east of here in Eastbourne. What a great idea …. the video was self-explanatory … and they’ll be so helpful to those on the streets especially as the autumn starts to come in and winter arrives. Brilliant – thanks for letting me know about it … take care – Hilary

Stories such as this warm my heart. The issue of homelessness is getting worse across the world each day. Instead of being judgmental the way that many are toward the homeless, wouldn’t it be better to treat them with dignity and respect the way this woman is?
dgkaye
Absolutely Pete. Especially now that homeless is going to take on a whole lot of new people, sadly, with no government benefits 🙁

What an amazing idea. Human ingenuity to the rescue. I’m amazed no one has thought of that before.

Isn’t it? 🙂

So heart-warming! I shared this on Facebook just now.
For years I have contributed regularly to two homeless shelters (rescue missions that are called) in my city. Here, they have to be protected not just from the cold but from the heat, brutal right now.
Thanks for sharing the good here, Dear Debby!

Thanks for sharing Marian, and thanks for your kind heart. 🙂 x

Amazing woman and her team of volunteers Debby, video is great and I love that she gave the guy a cuddle too, that probably meant as much to him as the blanket.. inspiring and thank you for sharing ♥

What a great idea… So inspiring and was able to watch the whole video…. The man on the seafront so very grateful for her gift.. and wish there was a link I did look but not being a FB member to send crisp packets to as my hubby usually has a pkt a day with his lunch. 🙂
<3

Thanks Sue. I’m sorry it was found on FB, but I heard from a few other Brtish friends that it was on the Channel 4 page – crisp pack blankets save lives. Try typing into Google for it to come up. Hugs and more! <3 xxx

Never would have thought of that one or even how to put them together after finding them. This is great on two counts–reusing what otherwise is not recyclable and helping people who need it.
dgkaye
Brilliant isn’t it! 🙂 Thanks for visiting. 🙂
Olga Núñez Miret
It’s a wonderful idea. Recycling and helping those who need it most. A great combination. Thanks for sharing it with us, Debby. The word should be spread around.
