The Years – Best Friends

me oldie

Where did twenty-five go? We’d ask one another as we reminisced about our younger selves.

Me and San

Me and Zan aged 21

Good times, fearless and carefree,

When every day was filled with a new possibility.

best friends

(Me and Bri in our mid 20s)

Where should we go tonight? Who might we meet?

The days of blue eyeshadow, midnight pool parties, and five inch heels on our feet.

Me and Bri at a work party

Vivid memories become slightly foggier.

Coffee houses harbored our secrets and wants,

A time to go dancing, frequenting our favorite haunts.

Me and Zan getting our party on (yep, she went blonde as I was subtly on my way to red)

Nightclubs in dark smoke-filled rooms, our shadows glared on the dance floor from strobing lights,

Highlighting our wild passions as we danced through the night.

Music blaring, too loud to speak,

But kept our feet in perfect rhythm to the disco beat.

Crushes, excitement, and heartbreak were all part of the times,

The days I miss; end of an era, marking maturation of the minds.

No distance or time can keep us apart. Copyright 2018

  6. What a beautiful post, Debby. I’m loving the hair flicks. Those photos are like gold dust. They bring so many lovely memories back. If only I could take you back on my time machine. Enjoy this year’s reunion. I hope you’ll all planning one?

    1. Lol thanks so much Hugh. I’d love to go for a ride on your time machine! 🙂 I’m not sure if there will be a reunion this year again, but hoping to get to the UK next year to visit Zan (she moved there 18 years ago, and even that hasn’t hindered our friendship), and get to the Bash at the same time! Here’s to hoping! xo

      1. If you’re coming to the UK, you’ve got to come and visit us as well. ?

        1. Well thank you so kindly Hugh! Indeed I’d love to. Lol, I have so many wonderful friends now from the blogging world, I may have to stay a few months to visit and spend time and party! 🙂 xoox

          1. That’s sounds like the perfect excuse for a few months in the UK, Debby. xx

          2. Ha! Wouldn’t I love 2 months! 🙂

  7. Awwwww. This is fantastic, Debby. Heartwarming to read about a long and deep friendship. <3 <3 <3

    1. Thanks Tess. It was fun digging out through old photos. 🙂 <3

      1. Where has the time gone? Does anyone know? Sigh.

        1. Isn’t there a song or two about that? LOL 🙂

  8. Aren’t those long term friendships amazing and wonderful? This is a lovely post honoring the beauty of friendship. Here’s to many more years for you and Zan. 🙂

    1. Thanks so much Diana. Yes, you certainly can’t buy a long lasting friendship. It must be earned through the years. 🙂

  9. This was so much fun, Debby, to see the different yous throughout the years. You look more gorgeous than ever! 🙂

    1. Aw shucks Carol, you make me blush. Thanks for the compliments. But it is funny to see the different hairstyles. I’m happy to say that I never changed my sense of style, and don’t plan to. 🙂

  10. Beautiful memories and wonderful post about friendship. I do hope you get to the UK it would be magical.

    1. Thanks Adele. I sure hope so too. 🙂

  11. Nothing like old friends Debby. So many memories time really does pass by way too fast. Lovely post. 🙂

    1. Thanks for stopping by Marje. Indeed, time seems to fly much faster as we age. 🙂

  12. Very beautiful, Debbie…. Good memories for sure… I love how you looked as a blonde, BTW… Happy week ahead. Aquileana ?

    1. Lol thanks Aq! Yes, so many people asked me how I could go from blonde to red, doesn’t everyone want to be a blonde? My answer: Redheads have more fun! 🙂 Happy week to you my friend! xo <3

  13. A lovely tribute to friendship that last and last and last. No matter how far away we are. No matter how long it’s been since we’ve seen each other. That sharing of the past. My brother was my first dance partner and we danced together again at my son’s wedding in 2013 and at his son’s wedding a few years before that. We still knew how. The body remembers…

    1. Thanks for sharing Elaine. Indeed, our memories live forever, and blessed are those who maintain lifelong friendships. 🙂

  14. Said it before, say it again….As we say here – Weapons!

    1. Lol Shey. I love it! PS 10 question post coming up later this week! I know the Hammies will love it. <3

  15. Hi Debby,
I was looking for an example of Festisite. Thanks for telling me about it. How did you get a ScoopIt social share button?

    1. Lol, Hi Janice. I am still learning more about Festisite, but I like that one particular one I used because you can add in whatever words you like. And now for the lol, to be honest, I don’t remember where I got the ‘scoopit’ share button. I’ve been frantically searching for a reblog, or repost button for self hosted wordpress, and I googled ‘ reblog to share button on’ and I began clicking on suggestions and thought this was the same as reblog, but it turns out it’s not, and I really have no clue what it does now that I managed to get it up there, lol. So maybe you can enlighten me? Hilarious huh? 🙂

  16. Loved this post, loved seeing your glam queen self too. You’re beautiful 😀 <3

    1. Aw shucks Sach. I told you, you’re making my head fat, lol. xo <3

  17. What a gorgeous series of photos – think it might inspire me to go back through a few of mine and see what I can find 😀

    1. Thanks Deb. Now I’m looking forward to yours! 🙂
