After a long summer of being held captive in my little authorly world working on the upcoming publication of my newest book, P.S. I Forgive You, I am finally sharing the front cover of the book and the blurb.
I’m currently running through another round of my own proofreading after the final proof has come back from the editor. By week’s end it should be off to my NEW formatter, Jo Robinson to prepare the book for lift-off.
I’ll make no bones about it, this was a difficult book for me to write and have to re-read a gazillion times in the rewrite and editing stages. There were many times I had to walk away from it for a day because it was like reliving painful moments. But like an old quote says: “You know you’ve healed when you can read your words and they no longer make you cry.” Truly, this book was therapeutic, and I hope readers can find some solace in their own lives in their own search for forgiveness.
So without further ado, I’d like to add this beautiful note my editor left for me after she finished editing. And the book cover and blurb follows:
From my Editor:
“As someone who’s had the pleasure of reading your previous books, I felt this one was an effective bookend of the journey you began in Conflicted Hearts. I’m sure your readers will likewise appreciate the closure and relate to the dilemmas you and your siblings faced toward the end of your mother’s life. Death brings out different reactions in all of us, but the openness of your writing encourages readers to honestly explore their emotions and perhaps find peace with aspects of their own pasts. Thank you for the opportunity to work on this book!” – Talia Leduc

The Blurb:
“I hurt for her. She wasn’t much of a mother, but she was still my mother.”
Confronted with resurfacing feelings of guilt, D.G. Kaye is tormented by her decision to remain estranged from her dying emotionally abusive mother after resolving to banish her years ago, an event she has shared in her book Conflicted Hearts. In P.S. I Forgive You, Kaye takes us on a compelling heartfelt journey as she seeks to understand the roots of her mother’s narcissism, let go of past hurts, and find forgiveness for both her mother and herself.
After struggling for decades to break free, Kaye has severed the unhealthy ties that bound her to her dominating mother—but now Kaye battles new confliction, as the guilt she harbors over her decision only increases as the end of her mother’s life draws near. Kaye once again struggles with her conscience and her feelings of being obligated to return to a painful past she thought she left behind.
“It is challenging to write about emotional pain and to revisit events, times when you felt powerless. Not everyone is courageous enough to undertake such a task. D.G. Kaye bravely faces her childhood and her relationship with her mother, sharing this complex experience with us in her memoir P.S. I Forgive You: A Broken Legacy. Kaye writes from a place of maturity and strength, bringing hope to others who need to find forgiveness to heal.”—Sally Cronin, Turning Back the Clock
P.S. I Forgive You will be available on Amazon by third week September.
Fantastic Debby.. counting the days. Looks fabulous.

Shared, Debby: Debby Gies’s courageous new work deals with something I call “relative investigation” – no matter how painful the process, the seeker of inner peace must revisit the past, digest it, view it in the light of higher wisdom, and then walk lightly forward. For some of us this process can be especially brutal…I have heard stories of abuse that have made me weep and weep…
Now here’s what Sally Cronin has to say about Debby’s new work:
“It is challenging to write about emotional pain and to revisit events, times when you felt powerless. Not everyone is courageous enough to undertake such a task. D.G. Kaye bravely faces her childhood and her relationship with her mother, sharing this complex experience with us in her memoir P.S. I Forgive You: A Broken Legacy. Kaye writes from a place of maturity and strength, bringing hope to others who need to find forgiveness to heal.”—Sally Cronin, Turning Back the Clock

Congrats on getting close, Debby. Lovely cover – it goes perfectly with Conflicted Hearts. My own experience with forgiveness is that it took a long long time to completely get there – painful but so worth the work. Excellent blurb and Sally’s recommendation sounds wonderfully heartfelt 🙂

I can relate so much to these thoughts of forgiveness, which was an arduous journey for me. Though in my heart I have forgiven all those who bullied and hurt me emotionally, the shadows keep creeping up occasionally, still keeping me awake for long hours.
I wish you great success with your upcoming book D.G. 🙂

Lol, thanks Elaine for the kudos. I worked the summer away to make up for the lost spring time when my hubby was ill. I’m thrilled you like the cover, as it took some time and lots of deliberation to choose something that related to Conflicted Hearts and got to the heart of the new book. I always have a bottle of champagne at the ready Elaine!
Funny you say am I on the next book. I usually am before a book comes out, but I’ve been promising myself to take the year and explore marketing more, and new things writing, but I do already have journals going on 2 different books, so I’ll see where I’ll focus my energies. 🙂
